When it comes to creating a content plan, start small and start simple. Don’t come out of the gate trying to do too much. It’s better to be consistent over striving for perfection. Give yourself some grace. Many of you are like me: you’re raising a family, you have a full plate, and you’re trying to create a career for yourself. You don’t want to overwhelm yourself because that makes it that much easier to give up. Focus on quality, not quantity, and progress over perfection.
Start by aiming small and trying to just one post a day. Try the different content pillars see what you do best and what you enjoy the most, because what you enjoy the most is what you’re going to be most successful with. If it’s painful for you to do a TikTok dance, don’t do a TikTok dance. Try picking a theme each day, and use Gary V’s 64 Pieces of Content Method. This method basically shows how you can take one piece of content, for instance “How I Started Gugu Guru” and that’s my theme for the day.
If you don’t know who Gary Vaynerchuk is, he’s a very inspirational entrepreneur. This PDF explains how to take one piece of content, in his example it is a picture of him and his dad, and he created 64 pieces of content from that one piece of content. He shows you step by step how to do it, and it’s actually super, super easy. The idea of work smarter, not harder is crucial to avoiding burnout. In general, focus on the quality of the content, not the quantity, because if you have one quality piece of content, you can spice it up a bunch of different ways.
Finally, don’t go overboard. If you look at themes, people talk about using a hook with content and giving proof of what you’re saying. Obviously, a call-to-action is very, very important at the end of content. Keep this in mind, but don’t make yourself too crazy. Always go back to the idea that perfection is less important than the consistency. There will be a little bit of a learning curve before you find your groove, but you will find your groove!
