by Gugu Guru Leave a Comment

Thanksgiving crept up quickly this year, and for many parents out there, it’s an exciting one, because it is their baby’s first Thanksgiving! We asked the Gugu Guru team and our baby planners for their must have essential items to celebrate Baby’s First Thanksgiving. Check over on Instagram to see some tips for enjoying your baby’s first Thanksgiving, too!

Victoria Facelli of Durham Lactation: Mine would be the Inglesina Fast Table Chair with tray. This way baby can be right up at the holiday table with you, plus it is so foldable to take to grandma’s house! the tray helps the feet of the seat not get cruddy and protects your beautiful heirloom linens from babies first cranberry sauce.

Jessica Zablan of The Birth and Baby Company: Ezpz Mats (pictured above). It’s a silicone suction mat that sticks right to the table or high chair. You don’t have to worry about your littles throwing the bowl or plate on to the floor. They are also dishwasher safe.

Lauren Daylami, Maternity Consultant with Your Milk Shoppe in Charleston, SC: The Oxo Tot Roll Up Bib is a must! It’s an essential item for parents to have for their kiddo at Thanksgiving. It has a convenient silicone pocket that will catch all the yummy food at dinner and is super easy to wash in the sink!

Ginny Lawler, Maternity Consultant with Your Milk Shoppe in Atlanta, GA: Bumkins Bibs! These come in a 3-pack, and are simple, easy to clean and easy to pack up. An extra bib for Thanksgiving is never a bad idea and so smart to pack when traveling! EZPZ Happy Mat; if your kids are up to solids, this placement and plate set is great for an easy cleanup. It’s completely dishwasher safe and it suctions to the table to avoid the plate from being thrown or flipped over!

Sarah Slazyk, Maternity Consultant with Your Milk Shoppe, Columbia South Carolina & Charlotte, NC:  Nothing is more important than capturing these precious months, years, and LIFETIMES of your sweet babies. My tip for creating lasting memories this holiday season (and every year after) is Groovebook! This day in age, we take So. Many. Photos. on our phones…but how many of us actually have the time to print and organize them? Groovebook is amazing and affordable! To get started, simply download the app, sign-up, and add a credit card. Each month, for only $2.99, you can upload up to 100 photos by the deadline. Groovebook will print all of them (4×6) in an adorable little booklet and automatically mail them to you. Have more than 100 photos you want printed in a month or want a duplicate book for all of your realtives? Easy peasy! You can add additional books for $2.99 each. Seriously, this app is fantastic and a great way to easily save these special memories!

Monica Banks, founder of Gugu Guru: I’m usually flying somewhere for Thanksgiving, so I’ve found having a baby carrier to wear the baby is key. Make sure that you practice with the carrier before you journey with baby. We’re big fans of the Tula Free-to-Grow carrier because you can use it from infants to toddlers – it’s also super lightweight. See our full review on it here.

Olivia Howell, Gugu Guru’s Editor in Chief: I’m a big photo taker, so when it comes to the holidays, I want to make sure I am all set up for good photos; don’t forget to get baby a cute outfit – I have two boys, so I love browsing Cuddle Sleep Dream for their Thanksgiving outfits for baby boys. Also, don’t forget to get a cute apron for yourself!

Cord Blood Banking 101

by Gugu Guru Leave a Comment

In the last few years, there has been a lot of chatter in the parent world about “cord blood banking.” While it seems like a smart idea on the surface, many parents can be overwhelmed by the concept, all the steps involved, the scary “what if’s” that are at the premise of cord blood banking and, the price tag. The team at Gugu Guru knows that when you’re expecting a baby, you’re likely already feeling “decision fatigue” and a high sense of skepticism around what is necessary for your family versus just a nice to have, so we wanted to break cord blood banking down to help you understand if it’s right for you. Below find our Cord Blood Banking 101 overview in an easy to digest Q&A format, including the pros and cons of this offering.  Read on to learn more about cord blood banking for your new baby from LifeBankUSA.

So, what is cord blood banking?

In a nutshell, cord blood banking is the act of saving your baby’s umbilical cord blood and its stem cells at birth in case you may need them in the future. The stem cells are harvested, processed and then “cryopreserved” (a fancy word for freezing) at a bank for your potential future medical use. A baby’s umbilical cord is rich in stem cells that can be used to treat a variety of life threatening disorders and diseases. The idea is that when you store your baby’s cord blood, you are investing in your baby’s future in the event that he or she may need his or her own stem cells. And, not necessarily just that particular child of yours, but often siblings are a match for each other too – though not always.

Why harvest from the umbilical cord blood?

While the umbilical cord blood is not the only source of stem cells in your body, it is very quick and easy to collect and bank stem cells from cord blood.  On the other hand, it currently requires lengthy, invasive procedures to tap into the body’s other sources (e.g., bone marrow) if you were to need your stem cells – and this is why it is recommended by many experts and physicians to harvest from the umbilical cord at birth.

Is there an expiration date on stem cells and how long they can be frozen for?

According to AABB, there is not enough scientific data to quantify the shelf life of frozen stem cells since the act of cord blood banking hasn’t been around that long. However, researchers and scientists say that stem cells frozen over 20 years ago are still as fresh today as they were when harvested.

What can cord blood or stem cells be used for in the future?

From cancers to blood disorders to genetic diseases – cord blood stem cells can be used in the treatment of nearly 80 diseases today such as leukemia, sickle-cell anemia, and some metabolic disorders (source: Moise K Jr. Umbilical cord stem cells. Obstet Gynecol. 2005;106(6):1393-1407.) Privately storing your baby’s cord blood is a way to ensure that this resource is available for your family if ever needed for current applications, experimental uses and for any treatments that may arise in the future. Cord blood is also being used experimentally right now in clinical trials to treat children with cerebral palsy and autism through Duke University Medical Center.

When do you actually “bank” the cells?

Cord blood banking can only be done at birth with the help of a doctor or midwife, using the kit provided through the cord blood banking company the parents have selected. It is important to remember that cord blood banking can only be performed by a doctor or midwife, and only at the moments of birth – you cannot go back and bank cord blood later. Therefore, we highly recommend researching cord blood banking companies while pregnant and having a plan in place well beforehand. Here’s a helpful resource from Parents.com on Comparing Cord Blood Banking Companies.

What is the biggest benefit to cord blood banking?

Perhaps the greatest benefit is that storing your child’s stem cells is a once in a lifetime opportunity and an investment in the safety and security of your family’s future.  By storing your baby’s stem cells privately, it means they will be available if you should ever need them. Without stem cells privately stored, your family would need to undergo other procedures (e.g., harvesting from bone marrow) to extract stem cells or search through public registries which can be extremely time consuming if a viable unit is even found. The long term investment of making sure your baby has his or her own stem cells banked can be considered priceless by many.

OK, so what is the biggest risk with cord blood banking?

Think of cord blood banking like any voluntary insurance plan you might carry. You may never need to use life insurance, for example, and if not – then you are out that investment. That is a financial risk and one that may need to be considered heavily if the cost would qualify as a large investment for your family.  However, some of the payment plans that are offered by private cord blood banks may help to mitigate that risk by allowing you to pay over time versus in one lump sum. Of course, even if the stem cells are not used for treatment you will still have the added piece of mind that they are there for your family.

I am giving birth soon! How do I bank my baby’s cord blood? What if I am giving birth at home?

When you work with a cord blood banking company, the company sends you a compact collection kit that contains all of the necessary materials for the collection to be performed. Simply bring this kit to the hospital in your labor and delivery bag.  The cord blood banking company will subsequently send a medical courier that will come to the hospital to get the kit from you after delivery. If you’re giving birth at home, the process is the same – you would receive a kit and your midwife would perform the collection, and a courier comes to pick up the cells. It’s all a very quick and simple process.

How much does it cost normally? Is there a payment plan?

According to Babycenter, cord blood banks can charge a first-year processing fee that ranges from about $1,500 to $3,000, plus annual storage costs of about $90 to $175. The banks typically offer payment plans, ranging from no-interest installments paid over a few months to longer-term financing with interest.

Los Angeles Baby Registry Must Haves

by Gugu Guru Leave a Comment

Today’s guest post comes from the crazy talented and hilarious mama and makeup extraordinaire, Jamie Greenberg, of Jamie Makeup. She’s a mama to two littles and one on the way and is here to share what she thinks are must have essentials for Los Angeles mamas. You can find Jamie on her website and Instagram.

Being a working mom of two (almost three!) can be a bit challenging- especially while living in the crazy city of Los Angeles! My name is Jamie Greenberg and I am a celebrity makeup artist to some of the funniest gals in the game (Kaley Cuoco, Rashida Jones, Chelsea Handler to name a few) but my favorite job of all is being the mama to Leni (7) and Simon (3). It has taken some time, but with baby #3 on the way, I can confidently say I have finally found my favorite baby products. They make being a mom in LA a lot easier!

Kirkland Ultra Soft Baby Wipes (Costco!): Living in sunny Los Angeles has one minor downside- dry skin. On top of that, my kiddos have sensitive skin so finding the right baby wipes was important to me. I stumbled up these ultra soft Costco wipes a few years ago and haven’t looked back! They are made without all the bad stuff (dyes, parabens, phthalates, etc.) so I can feel good knowing they aren’t going to cause their bum bums any discomfort!

The Honest Company Bubble Bath: Los Angeles heat=lots of dust and dirt. Bath time is much needed in my house! My favorite bubble bath of all time is by The Honest Company. The bubbles won’t disappear after a few minutes of playing!

The Ollie World Swaddle: Super easy to use- who doesn’t love velcro?!

Project Nursery Sound Machine: Living in a busy city can mean a lot of hustle and bustle right outside your window. My favorite sound machine is by Project Nursery. It is very affordable (only $49) and not only plays soothing sounds for the baby, but is also a projector and a nightlight! We’ve had ours for years!

Kickee Pants-Clothing/Pajamas: Los Angeles is filled with some very fashionable people- why shouldn’t the babies be dressed to the nines as well?! My favorite brand for baby pajamas is KicKee Pants! I love how they wear and they wash very well. I wish they made my size!

Skip Hop Vibrant Village Activity Gym: It’s a great place for baby to play and rest – and pretty rad looking too! Because it is super lightweight, it can travel around the house easily, and even on set or outside in the gorgeous LA weather.

The One Essential Baby Registry Must Have

by Gugu Guru Leave a Comment

Often when moms start building their registries, they seem overwhelmed with the amount of products they seemingly need to take care of a baby – rest easy, mama – we have a special list for you today. We reached out to our amazing baby planners and posed the question, “what ONE baby product is a must have essential?” It’s not easy to pair down a must have baby item to only one essential product pick – but, read on and see what our planners say is the must have one item for your baby registry. Want to see their one piece of advice for new parents? You’ve got to head to our Instagram for that info!

Don’t forget to check out the baby planners’ picks for preparing for multiples and items to help you get through Newborn Lockdown.

Jessica Zablan of The Birth and Baby Company:

One Essential Baby Registry Must Have: Nose Frida! Or the whole Frida Baby kit.

Amber Michel of Your Milk Shoppe:

One Essential Baby Registry Must Have: Aden + Anais muslin swaddling blankets. These blankets will be EVERYTHING to you from birth and beyond. The perfect swaddling blanket, you can also use as a breastfeeding cover or a light layer during walks. You will use these well into toddlerhood and beyond. Highly recommend these blankets as a must-have on every registry!

Abby Ludwig, Gugu Guru Registry Consultant:

One Essential Baby Registry Must Have: The FridaBaby Windi! There will be times when your little one is backed up. They are uncomfortable and as a parent you feel helpless! When your babe is having trouble getting those gas pains out, there is only one product you need! The Fridababy Windi is an absolute must have for new parents. Think of the Windi as the updated version of the “thermometer trick.” When your baby is in pain, it is a safe and quick way to help relieve the gas and colic pain they may be experiencing.

Tina Morton of Cloud Nine Births:

One Essential Baby Registry Must Have: DockAtot! The one just have I would say is the DockATot! It’s a life saver at night, during the day, and in every location. It just gives baby a nice, secure, comfy hug!

Seen also: Minimalist Baby Registry Must Haves

Victoria Facelli of Durham Lactation:

One Essential Baby Registry Must Have: An exercise ball to bounce on.

Lauren Daylami, Maternity Consultant in Charleston, SC Territory of Your Milk Shoppe:

One Essential Baby Registry Must Have: My number one item for a new parent is the HoMedics Sound Machine. White noise will help associate your baby with sleep time and will also block out any loud background noises so that they can sleep longer and more soundly. This is a lifesaver for overtired new parents!

Ashley Akselband of Wellsprings Birth and Baby:

One Essential Baby Registry Must Have: Infant car seat! The one product new parents must have – an infant car seat! I’ve worked with people who think it’s better to get a convertible car seat, as it will grow with their child, but I explain to people that an infant seat (if your budget allows you to purchase both) is fantastic, because transferring the baby from the car into a stroller or into the house makes life so much easier when they’re in an infant seat. I usually recommend the Britax B-Safe or the Chicco KeyFit 30 – they both have excellent safety ratings, easy to install and carry, and they’re compatible with so many different stroller brands, so you can still use them with some of the top of the line strollers on the market.

Sarah Slazyk, Maternity Consultant in Columbia, SC  & Charlotte, NC of Your Milk Shoppe:

One Essential Baby Registry Must Have: Ergobaby Carriers! They are amazing. So comfortable, easy to use, and a life saver for getting things done around the house, running errands, or just needing to give those tired arms a break. The newest one, the Ergobaby 360, is fabulous and can hold baby in all different positions (infant insert needed for newborns). They also JUST came out with a new wrap that is great too, less stretchy than other brands so baby doesn’t sag (because let’s be real, mamas have other sagging issues to worry about, ha) and cozy, breathable fabric.

Julie McCaffrey of Babynav Baby Planners:

One Essential Baby Registry Must Have: I actually have three: the Skip Hop Pronto changing station, a Crane Drop Humidifier and an aden + anais Serenity Star. For any mom or dad on the go, the Skip Hop Pronto is a must have to ensure you always have a clean place to change baby. The Pronto folds up small enough to carry on your wrist or toss under your stroller but unfolds into a clean extra-large space to change baby with pockets to hold and easily access all the essentials. A humidifier in the nursery can help keep sniffles away for baby and the Crane Drop humidifier is my go to because it looks stylish in just about any nursery design thanks to the many color options and it is super easy to use. Not only is it whisper quiet but it requires no filter so there are no extra parts for parents to worry about keeping track of! This 5-in-1 piece of gear for the nursery is great for the smallest or biggest spaces. The Serenity Star is a stylish clock, nightlight, room temperature indicator, feeding diary and sound machine all in one so parents don’t to have find places for multiple devices in the nursery.

Gugu Guru Team:

One Essential Baby Registry Must Have: Baby Merlin’s Magic Sleepsuit! Transitioning from the comfort of a swaddle to a sleep sack can be a rough transition for some babies, as they miss the secure feeling of a swaddle. One of the most popular items on countless registries we see is the Baby Merlin’s Magic Sleepsuit. Made with soft, comforting materials, the Magic Sleepsuit will give your baby the sense of security and warmth they need to sleep well through the night. We highly recommend this one essential item, as it is a necessary aid to help your little one sleep safely on their own.

Newborn Lockdown Must Haves

by Gugu Guru Leave a Comment

The days after a baby is born are so jam packed with emotion, that it’s vital to have everything you need ready and prepared for when the baby comes home. We call those early weeks with a newborn, “Newborn Lockdown,” it’s all about feeding, sleeping, and getting adjusted to life with a baby. We asked our baby planners what their number one products are for Newborn Lockdown – did you use any of these items? What would you add to the list?

For our baby planners’ best tips and tricks for getting through the Newborn Lockdown time, check out our Instagram stories. And, don’t forget to check out their tips and product picks for preparing for multiples!

Ashley Akselband of Wellsprings Birth & Baby:

Product Pick for Newborn Lockdown: For breastfeeding mommas – Lanolin! It’s SO important to stock up on a few tubes of lanolin and keep it near your regular breastfeeding locations (the nursery, next to your bed, the couch, etc. – there will be many times your baby will fall asleep after nursing and you won’t feel like getting up to retrieve it, so get a few tubes!) I always recommend Lansinoh HPA Lanolin – it’s the #1 recommended nipple cream in the United States. A pea-sized amount usually does the trick and is safe for both mom and baby – no need to wipe it off of your sensitive nipples prior to feeding!

Victoria Zimmerman of Aspen Baby Planners:

Product Pick for Newborn Lockdown: The first month or two home are all about recovering from birth – for both mom and baby! – so we suggest lots of rest, love, and coziness!  Get a smart watch – it’s worth the financial investment mamas! – for all those times your phone is just out of reach but your baby has finally fallen asleep on your chest and you’re desperate to text your best friend! Consider a baby seat like the Skip Hop Uplift Bouncer – it’s up off the ground so your baby will be able to see you more clearly while her vision is still developing and you won’t be straining your back as your body is recovering! Use the Owlet Baby monitor for night time sleep so you can both get optimal rest.  It’ll help you feel confident your little one is breathing safely without checking on her every few minutes (we seriously love this product!).

Jessica of The Birth & Baby Company:

Product Pick for Newborn Lockdown: Order in – food subscription boxes (blue apron, hello fresh, etc…). This way you get a healthy meal and it helps with keeping the routine of having to make dinner. Grocery delivery! Many places with deliver right to your door. You can add just about anything to your order that you would typically buy from that store. If doorstep delivery isn’t an option, you could have a friend or family member pick everything up with their pick up service. Amazon! You can buy pretty much everything on Amazon and it’s shipped right to your door. They even have a subscribe and save for diapers. They will mail out a box of diapers every week or however often you need. Hulu/ Netflix. Hang out of the couch and binge watch a whole season of your favorite show. A postpartum doula. A trained professional to help assist your family transition into parenthood.

Lauren Daylami, Charleston, SC, Your Milk Shoppe Consultant:

Product Pick for Newborn Lockdown: My #1 has to be the Guava Lotus Bassinet/Travel Crib. Once the baby outgrows the bassinet it converts into a crib. The whole thing is super compact and fits easily into small places. So easy to travel with!

See Also: Guava Lotus Crib on our Affordable Eco-Friendly Baby Registry Picks

Ginny Lawler, Atlanta, GA, Your Milk Shoppe Consultant:

Product Pick for Newborn Lockdown: Hatch Nursery changing table. It weighs newborns every time they’re changed to help moms keep track on their weight, and can also track all of the diaper changes. They also have a nightlight/sound machine that can be a great breastfeeding light.

Gugu Guru Team:

Product Pick for Newborn Lockdown: Netflix! Don’t have a Netflix account? You need one now – you’ll be spending many, many long hours rocking, feeding, and shushing a baby, the least you can do is binge watch The Gilmore Girls while you do it! (We highly recommend Dawson’s Creek and Felicity, too!). A Netflix account makes a wonderful baby shower gift, as well – mama can even watch on her phone late at night!

Top 5 Must Have Essentials for a Colicky Baby

by Gugu Guru Leave a Comment

-Sponsored Post-

As a prospective or new parent, you are often told about colic – and warned about the days of non-stop crying and fussing – however, we rounded up our top 5 must have essentials for dealing with a colicky baby. It may not be easy, but there are products and tips to help soothe the colicky baby (and yourself) as much as possible!

1. Baby K’tan Carriers: Babies love to be held. All. The. Time. It helps keep their heart rate steady, their new nervous system calm, and keeps them warm, too! Plus, often times new little bellies have a hard time adjusting to eating, so feeling your body pressed up against theirs is super soothing. The Baby K’tan carrier is ideal for holding your newborn all day long [our editor in chief swears by her K’tans for both her boys!] With its patented double-loop design, the Baby K’tan slips on like a t-shirt – no fuss, from the baby or yourself – the K’tan makes babywearing as simple as can be. Baby will be close to you all day, and you get to use your hands! Plus, this cotton carrier is easily washable – win win win! The K’tan carrier is also a travel essential, and a must-have for babywearing.

2. MAM Anti-Colic Bottles: MAM is known for their award-winning, medically sound and innovative baby products. MAM is innovative in that they really respond to parents’ needs, so when they saw that there was a need for a baby bottle to help with colic, they quickly responded! They recently introduced a new double-sided design for their award winning Anti-Colic bottles. Designed to prevent colic, gas and reflux, the bottles’ new double-sided design features adorable themed graphics on one side and a large, graduated scale on the other. The patented Anti-Colic vented base ensures babies can drink calmly and relaxed while ventilation holes regulate the pressure balance. This allows for the milk to flow evenly without bubbles or foaming. The nipple’s SkinSoft textured surface and unique flat shape fits perfectly in the baby’s mouth making the switch between breast and bottle easy. MAM Anti-Colic bottles feature a leak-proof cap, wide openings and removable base for easy cleaning.

3.  Halo SnoozyPod: The newest addition to the HALO line, the HALO SnoozyPod Vibrating Bedtime Soother, makes the transition to bedtime easier for little ones and parents. The SnoozyPod fits snugly under the mattress of a crib, toddler or twin size bed and plugs into the wall to provide a nightlight, soothing white noise and two levels of gentle vibration. Each is timed for 30 minute intervals or can be set to run all night long to meet baby’s sleep preference.. The soft glow nightlight incorporates amber colored LED light that won’t stimulate your baby’s circadian rhythm and cause wakefulness. In addition, SnoozyPod is Bluetooth enabled, so caretakers can activate the functions on their phone from anywhere in the home, without encouraging wakefulness by entering their room. This is ideal for babies with colic, as often the vibrating and soft noise helps them calm down enough to sleep!

4. Mom Life Must Haves’ Surviving Motherhood Tumbler: Colic can be hard – we know. Long days of a fussy baby who never wants to be put down. However, don’t forget to take some time and remember that this too shall pass – and oh, have a tumbler full of your favorite drink – especially when the tumbler reminds you that you are, indeed, surviving motherhood one sip at a time! (It is also okay to need a break and regroup after a long day of colic. Need some options on how to take a much deserved break? We have you covered!)

5. Netflix, Hulu…: If baby is going to be fussing anyway, why not binge watch some TV? Take advantage of this time when little ears can’t pick up on choice words and catch up on some movies you’ve been missing! Also, don’t forget, seriously – nap when the baby naps…housework can, and will, wait!

Lastly, don’t beat yourself up; you’re doing the best that you can. We absolutely love this quote from Stephanie of Olive & Tate:

“To my fellow colic parents: I know this journey and I know that you cannot truly understand it unless you’ve been there, too. I see you, I respect you and I know that you are doing your best.”

Thank you to HALO, Baby K’tan, and MAM for making this sponsored post possible.

Back to Daycare Essentials

by Gugu Guru Leave a Comment

-Sponsored Post-

It’s the time of year again when many little ones head to daycare, either for the first time, or seasoned little ones are heading back – what are the essential items which you need to remember for heading back to daycare? We rounded up some top daycare essentials which you don’t want to forget!

Labels: Labels are a must have essential for daycare, especially when you’re sending bottles, diapers, and baby gear. We’re big fans of Stuck on You labels for all of your little one’s stuff – everything needs to be labeled, from clothing to pacifiers, to bags, to bottles, to food items.  Stuck On You Name Labels are safe in the microwave, dishwasher and freezer, plus they come with a scratch resistant coating making them waterproof and super long lasting. These quality stick on name labels will go the distance on plastic toys for ‘show and tell’ and playtime! Multi Use Labels are ideal for using on stuffed toys as it will not only give them more personality, it will ensure that these treasured companions make it home if they are misplaced. We recommend sewing down the Multi Use Label to their stuffed toy for added security. We love how creative you can get with these labels – you can personalize them down to picking  font, which means your little one’s labels will be unique and special.

Diapers: While cloth diapering is becoming very popular for many parents, many daycares don’t allow for cloth diapers. Here’s a hint: remind them about a reduction in trash with cloth and that could make them reconsider. If you’re unable to talk the facility into cloth diapering and looking for an safe alternative to cloth diapers, we love Babyganics Diapers! Made with a new blend of plant-based materials, Babyganics diapers are intended for superior comfort and fit and enhanced absorbency. They have NO chlorine, latex, petroleum based lotions or fragrances. They are made with NeoNourish Seed Oil Blend: Babyganic’s own blend of tomato, sunflower, cranberry, black cumin and raspberry seed oils. They feature soft-stretch sides, leak control, and have a wetness indicator.

Safe Shoes: While not a concern for infants, toddlers need to have safe shoes to run around in! Many daycares ask that parents not send open-toed shoes, or sandals, as beginner walkers can have issues with them. We’re a fan of Bobux shoes, which has sturdy, safe and stylish shoes for newborns through kids. Bobux has been making incredible baby shoes since 1991, in fact Bobux invented the soft sole shoes with the ankle elastic system that makes these shoes easy to put on and they stay on! Made from 100% buttery soft leather that molds to baby’s feet. Many parents report that Bobux are the only shoes their baby will wear, because they are so soft and comfortable it’s like not wearing shoes at all.

Top 5 Must-Have Essentials: Toddler Diaper Bag

by Gugu Guru Leave a Comment

One of the things that no one talks about when you become a new parent is the evolution of the diaper bag. You will start out, a worried and confused new parent, with a packed-to-the-gills diaper bag of infant gear. Over time, as you learn what you actually need for baby, your diaper bag will become less cluttered, and then slowly, as your baby grows to a toddler, all of the items you used to need (burp cloth, pacifier) will slowly disappear and make room for toddler necessities. We rounded up 5 essential toddler diaper bag must haves! What necessities for your toddler do you always carry?

Baby K’tan Smart Gear Diaper Bag: Did you know that Baby K’tan has an amazing diaper bag, too? Coming in chevron (pictured), black, or dandelion print, this diaper bag is a must-have for life with a busy toddler. What makes this bag so different and just so genius is that it includes a built-in wetbag with antibacterial lining and water-tight zipper as well as antibacterial pockets that kill germs and odor causing bacteria. That is perfect for a potty-training toddler, or any kid who loves to “do it my way!” and spills all over themselves (can you hear us sighing from there?). Plus, the K’tan diaper bag has 12 functional pockets to store all your toddler’s toys, snacks, essentials and more.

Junkless Chewy Granola Bars: Speaking of snacks, it is literally a rule of life that you cannot leave home without snacks when you’re out with a toddler. Our team is a big fan of the Junkless Granola bars when it comes to feeding the little ones. Coming in peanut butter, chocolate chip, strawberry, or cinnamon, they have no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives, no hydrogenated oils, no high fructose corn syrup, 0g trans fat; and what’s more, they have less sugar than many other leading granola bars – only 5g per 1.1 oz. bar. Our editor’s kids got the chance to try these and loved having them for breakfast, too!

MAM Baby Sports Cup: Another thing about toddlers you should know is that they are always “sooooo thirsty, mommy!” Make sure you’re all ready to go with a MAM Sports Cup full of water. The innovative MAM Sports Cup opens automatically for drinking and does not have to be opened by hand. A patented valve system ensures that the cup remains leak-proof but is always ready for drinking. This cup also features a leak-proof cap that help keep bottles clean when not in use.

The giant ears and curled trunk is sure to delight any toddler boy or girl. Coming in pink and blue, this little elephant, known fondly as Little E, will become the buddy you’re little buddy has always wanted.
