Brands see the explosion of content creators and know that user-generated content is 42% more effective than branded content, and has an almost seven times higher engagement rate than branded posts.
For instance, the average conversion rate of a piece of content is really low, at 1-2%. A user generated photo converts around 4%. When it comes to videos, user generated content, in terms of videos for ecommerce, converts around 10-15%. Both of these conversion rates are significantly higher than a brand photo. If a brand uses a content creator to take a video of themselves wearing shoes and walking around, that converts much higher than their own content. Obviously, it has to be a quality video, it can’t be dimly lit or shaky, but a good quality video will convert at a much higher rate.
So, brands say, “Okay, we need this content. We need this UGC, big time because we want to get the higher conversion rates”. It’s through this that online creators are quickly becoming the new business moguls, they are becoming the new entrepreneurs. There’s a new expression, an entrepreneurial creator, or creator entrepreneur. Those words are being combined together because content creation and being a creator are interchangeable with the word entrepreneur right now.
