Ok, if you’re reading this it’s probably because you are interested in being a mom content creator and this is the post where I hype you up. Now, I’m not a motivational speaker, or anything like that, but I do want to just stress that if I can do this, YOU can do this. I am not some fancy influencer, I don’t have tons of followers or anything like that, BUT I have a full time career and have made a company around content creation, and you can definitely do it too. Plus, guess what? You can do more quickly and more easily than I could over the past few years, because now is the time for content creators.
On that note, I want to say that every single person has a special gift, and really, as corny as that sounds, it’s true. In your journey you have to remember that – that it’s a matter of tapping into your special gift, with content creation, that’s going to propel you in your career as a creator. In upcoming posts, I am going to talk about finding out what your special gift is, and how you can help others using that gift. Because service = success in my opinion.
Everyone has something to offer yet I get DMs and I get comments, like, “I don’t know what I could create content about” or “I don’t think I’m that interesting” or “I am niche-less” and these are types of self-deprecating comments. I know that you have at least one area of your life that you’ve had success in and that you can help others with. Pro tip: if you don’t know what that topic is, then ask friends and family what they would come to you for advice or help on. That should be a good indication of where you can create transformative content and what your special gift might be.
You need have that mindset that you 100% have something to offer and once you figure out what that is, you’re going to be able to help others with it, and you’re going to be able to make a career as a content creator. So, just make sure you have that mindset, and (to quote an 80’s GI Joe adage – dating myself here) “Knowing is half the battle.”
The other half of the mental battle is that you have to commit to it, whether it’s a side hustle, or something you want to do full time, you have to say to yourself, “Okay, I’m going to do this.” I know that it may sound funny, because I used to be very skeptical of these kinds of things where, you would journal, or create big vision boards or whatever, but it’s true, you have to mentally every morning, wake up and say, I’m a content creator, this is what I am, and this is what I’m committing to, and this is what I’m going to do. Because just saying the words, “I am a content creator”, is again, a big step toward your goal of being a content creator.
Some people say to fake it till you make it. I’m not even about being fake, you are authentically a content creator, and that’s why you’re visiting mom creators reading this post today. So, you just have to remember to describe yourself as that, and remind yourself that that’s who you are.
On that note, authentic content, at least for me, performs well. You should also think about that as your guiding rule for everything around content creation. This means that as long as you’re consistent and authentic, that’s more important than getting everything right. Just posting consistently, following the steps, taking that action every single day to push yourself towards their goal. That is much, much more important than trying to get everything perfect, and figuring out what hashtags you should use, and oh my gosh, and I have to trim this clip, don’t worry about it, just try to be focused on being consistent and being yourself.
