Our Urban Mama, Megan, is back sharing her top kids gear for 2019 for urban moms. While it may seem like baby and kid gear is the same across the board, urban moms most definitley need to think about things like space-saving items, busy street walking, and subway action! Check out Megan’s suggestions below and let us know what you think in the comments! Don’t forget to follow Megan on Instagram for Urban Parenting tips and tricks!
Stokke Tripp Trapp & Newborn Set: The unofficial highchair of NYC, the Stokke Tripp Trapp now comes with a newborn seat! We’ve used the Tripp Trapp for our older kids and now our newest addition can join us at the dining room table. The seat helps encourage bonding with her older siblings in a cozy nest-like environment.
4moms rockaRoo: It’s chic, compact and gets the job done. Living in a small space the traditional baby swing is not an option in an NYC apartment. My daughter LOVES the soothing back and forth motion of the 4moms rockaRoo. I love the size and that it’s not a giant eyesore in my living room.
Tula Explore Carrier: The cool girl carrier now has an ergonomic front-facing position. With breathable fabric and beautiful prints, you don’t have to sacrifice comfort for style. This tops my list as the best ergonomic carrier currently on the market. With adjustable head support and carrying option such as inward facing, outward facing and back carry the Tula can take your babywearing from the newborn stage all the way up to a toddler. Perfect from strolling through Soho or running to catch the 1 this carrier gets it done. See more on the Tula Explore here, too.
Stokke Xplory: When looking for a new stroller for baby #3 I did a ton of research for the best full-size stroller for our family. The Xplory has adjustable heights to raise the baby higher for eye contact and multiple forward-facing stroller positions. The best part of the stroller seat is suitable for a newborn to a child up to 45lbs. For my family, that means the stroller can not only grow with our new baby but I can also use the stroller for my toddler. Having a double stroller in the city is hard (a side by side double practically screams tourist). This allows my 2-year-old and baby to switch off. I can wear the baby when the toddler gets tired of walking or have my older child ride the Sibling Board under the stroller.
Love To Dream Swaddle: Are you a horrible swaddler? It’s ok to admit this because I’m on baby number 3 and I still have not mastered the art of swaddling. Don’t worry guys you’re not alone and there is a product out there that makes a swaddle solution for parents like us. The Love to Dream zipper design is so easy I’ve even changed a diaper during the night without interrupting my babies sleep. The unique arms up design emulates a natural sleep position in the womb and will help all of you get a decent nights sleep. See more on the Love to Dream Swaddle here, too.
Elvie Breast Pump: While I’ve nursed all over New York City I’ve never pumped in public, until now! Imagine what it would feel like to not be tethered to a wall or hiding in the mother’s room at work while you pump? The Elvie wearable lightweight breast pump lets you get outside and pump on the go. It’s truly hands-free and perfect for busy moms who don’t have time for pumping to slow them down.
UppaBaby Minu: My favorite travel stroller that handles like it’s big siblings the Vista and Cruz. Sturdy enough to take a NYC curb plus spacious with true one handed fold that’s light enough to carry up the subway stairs.z This spacious travel stroller ticks all the boxes.
