Winter Toddler Essentials: Mom Creator Curations

by Abby Ludwig Leave a Comment

It may be ‘fake spring’ here in the midwest this week, but the reality is we know we’re just a few days away from the Winter chill coming back around. There are so many products out there to keep your little ones bundled up cozy during the never ending winter. We reached out to our network for Mom Creators to see what their favorite products are – toddler edition.

For the Snow

“My son’s little sled. Helps us get outside on the cold winter days!” – Bailee A. Follow on TikTok

“My favorite boots for my toddler are the Bogs. They come in sizes for toddler through adult and they easy for kids to put on themselves.” – Kari Z. Follow on IG and TikTok

“For my toddler, we always go with the UGG Neumel Boot with the side zipper. He has wide feet, and these generally last us two seasons (fall/winter and all the way to Spring), but they must e waterproofed at least twice during our winters [in Buffalo]. We also love the Small Fry Clothing Co. Beanie – a small shop but seriously super warm and gets the job done in cold temps.” =- Ashleigh S. Follow on IG and TikTok

To Keep Busy Inside

“The foam play couch! It’s been a lifesaver now that it’s dark and cold when we get home from daycare. There are so many things you can do to play with it indoors until we are able to go back outside and play! I call it our indoor winter playground.” – Haley S. Follow on IG

“Ms Rachel! Here in WY the weather is so cold that outside play time for an 18 month old is dangerous. So I open the curtains so she can see outside and get sunshine, and we have Ms Rachel playing in the background, and she plays with her Legos, stuffed animals, and music, or she reads or has me reading to her in my lap. It’s been a life saver! Toddlers are busy!!! So we just try to manage. Isn’t Ms. Rachel how we all survive?!” – Tiffany O. Follow on IG

We can’t help but include a couple of Baby Recs too!

“Skip Hop Activity Center – this is our latest and greatest addition to the household. We are LIVING our best life with this thing. Baby is so happy he can finally stand up to play. Best thing ever!” – Jennifer Y. Follow on IG and TikTok

“Zutano booties! No fussing with socks that don’t stay on their feet and if they kick the blanket off, it’s okay!” – Shannon W. Follow on IG and TikTok

Valentine’s Day: Mom Creator Round Up

by Abby Ludwig Leave a Comment

I’m not sure how we’ve arrived here, but Valentine’s Day is around the corner. While some of us may feel that Hallmark has taken the holiday way over the top, the reality is that many of us try to make it special for our loved ones – including our kids! I asked our Mom Creators this simple question – “What do you really want for Valentine’s Day? A gift? An experience? Time away from the hustle and bustle? If you can request anything, what would it be?”

See what our Mom Creators REALLY want?

After looking at the requests it became very clear to me that these items fall into a few categories. Something at home, some time away, and some time together.

Something at home

“A house that stays clean longer than 5 minutes. That’s all, nothing crazy” – Alex

“One night of everyone sleeping through the night.” – Tanya

“I would love to spend time with my baby and my husband. Not worried about food or cleaning up.” – Ankita

Some time away

“A staycation in a hotel by myself with room service, a massage, and a binge-worthy show!” – Peyton

“A day of kid-free self-care ending with a delicious steak.” – Tiffany

“A massage!” – Bailee

“Just a few hours and some money to get my nails done and grab lunch alone.” – Kayla

“A haircut!” – Samantha

“Hands down, quiet time to getaway with my sisters and scrapbook.” – Nus

“A night in a hotel, room service, spa service, etc… all by myself.” – Kaitlyn

“A girls’ day with a friend and coming home to a clean house.” – Clarice

Some time together

“ Sleeping in and a date night” – Annie

“Just sleeping all night and sleeping in. Maybe a nice meal on top of it.” – Ainsley

“I would love some time away in the woods to not worry about food or cleaning.” – Veronica

“A weekend with my kids and husband doing something super fun, where we didn’t have to worry about cooking, cleaning, etc. “ – Elizabeth

“An overnight trip with my family. Nothing crazy, just us and the kids – having fun, making memories. Life gets so crazy after holiday season that we don’t take a step back to remember to make memories.” – Ashleigh

“A trip to Disney World with my little man. And we live nearby!” – Amanda

Mom Creator Curations: Bundle Up Edition

by Abby Ludwig Leave a Comment

Let’s shoot straight. You can only stay inside with your littles for so many days in a row. Occasionally as the temperature drops, it’s necessary to bundle up and get some fresh air. We asked our network of Mom Creators to share their favorite products to keep their little ones (and themselves!) warm while playing outside.

For Mom (or Dad!)

“The 3-in-1 Maternity Parka from Seraphine! This has been a game changer for babywearing when it’s cold in New England. My 14-month-old will sleep in the carrier when I have this on so its a sanity saver when I can’t be inside any longer!” Sabrina J. Follow on IG and TikTok

“One of my favorite winter items are the 7AM Enfant Stroller hand warmmuffs. They help avoid misplaced gloves while attending to your child and double to keep your hands toasty on those really cold frigid days.” – Selina A. Follow on IG and TikTok

“The “zip us in” insert that allows you to baby wear with any coat!” – Rachael S. Follow on IG

For the Toddler

“My must-have winter product was the JJ Cole Bundleme that we put on the stroller, which allows us to get out all winter long. Bundle the kids up and let the have just a little bit of fresh air that they so desperately need! My 2.5-year-olds still fit comfortably in these and are snug as a bug (or two bugs in my case).” Abby L. Follow on IG and TikTok

“For sledding we went with the classic Target snow bibs and Cuddle Dud or Under Armour layering pieces.” – Ashleigh S. Follow on IG and TikTok

“Kids warmmuffs by 7AM Enfant are great for those piggyback/wheel board riders who are also battling the cold with you. They even grow with your toddlers and double as scooter hand warmers. Definitely a plus for us New Yorkers (or others living in a cold city) that still have to run daily errands on those super colder days.” Selina A. Follow on IG and TikTok

For your Infant

“Zutano booties! No fussing with socks that don’t stay on their feet and if they kick the blanket off, it’s okay!” – Shannon W. Follow on IG and TikTok

“Carter’s Sherpa Bunting. We’re in Buffalo, NY and we had two major lake effect blizzards this winter so far and I couldn’t have lived without [this]. It has foldovers for the hands so I didn’t have to worry about mittens!” Ashleigh S. Follow on IG and TikTok

“A stroller muff is one of our favorite winter gear items. Perfect for keeping kiddos cozy during outdoor walks. Pro tip: we ordered the larger toddler size and found it works even with smaller babies!” – Samantha F. Follow on IG

Feeding Tips from our Mom Creators

by Abby Ludwig Leave a Comment

Whether you’re feeding a newborn, a toddler, or your entire family, our experienced Mom Creators have the best advice. Our creators are real moms (like you!) who are sharing their advice on products they have used with their own kids. Check out some excellent tips and tricks straight from our network of experienced moms. We’ve been there mama, and we got you!

Breastfeeding

If you’re going to breastfeed your little one, it is so important to have a great feeding pillow. They will give baby extra support, lifting your little love closer to nurse. In turn, you will save your lower back from the added pain of leaning forward during mealtime. A favorite for many of our Mom Creators is the nursing pillow by bbhugme. It is customizable to your size and shape, making it great for moms of all sizes. Plus it works well for bottle-fed babies and has a great carrying case for travel.

Pumping

Pumping can feel like a full-time job, so it’s great to make things a little easier with an excellent pump and some pump-friendly clothing. Our Mom Creators are constantly raving about the items from Kindred Bravely. Comfortable bras, joggers, and pajamas that will always answer the question, “What does a new mom wear?”

Bottle Feeding

Bottles should be easy to use, easy to clean, and easy to put together. Whether they are glass, plastic, or silicone, find a bottle you love to use and it’s likely your little one will fall in suit. Our Mom Creators are in love with the silicone nanobébé bottles. They have a vented nipple to help your little one with gas issues and are great if you’re going between breast and bottle. Check here for even more reviews on nanobébé.

Introducing Solids

Your little one’s not so little anymore and you’re ready to introduce solids. Where to start and what products might I need? We love the whole line from Green Sprouts baby – from burp cloths, to silicone first foods feeder, to bibs, they have so many excellent eco-friendly basics. They even have an entire line of cups that have been made out of plants! Their products grow with your little ones and you will use them over and over with every single stage.

Our Mom Creators have been there and done that. See more products our Mom Creators have tried and loved with their little ones.

Mom Creator Curations: Medicine Cabinet Edition

by Abby Ludwig Leave a Comment

Winter has arrived in much of the country, and while snowmen are cute, the seasonal sicknesses are not. Colds, Flu, COVID, and even a simple case of sniffles can disrupt every parent’s dream of regular routine activities. We polled our huge network of Mom Creators to see what products they have on hand to help battle the winter bugs.

For the Nose

We had SO much feedback about different nasal aspirators. NoseFrida continues to be a top recommendation from so many moms. We also have a number of moms who have switched to electric aspirators (Thanks, Alex R. for being the first rec here!). Pair the aspirators with some boogie wipes and/or saline spray to help your littles keep those noses clear. They also LOVE what Frida has to offer! See what our Mom Creators had to say:

“NoseFrida and saline for babies and toddlers ?? I’m a nurse practitioner and that has always been our go-to for colds and other upper respiratory illnesses.” – Kari Z. Follow on IG and TikTok

“Definitely the NoseFrida!” – Sarah H. – Follow on IG

“The NoseFrida and basic saline spray works wonders for stuffy noses! It looks gross, but it’s the best parenting hack out there!” – Kaitlyn T. – Follow on IG and TikTok

“Boogie Wipes have always been helpful when fighting those winter stuffy noses. They may be located in the baby section of the stores, but my kids (ages 8 & 11) still use them!” – Elizabeth D. – Follow on IG and TikTok

For the Congestion

There were a number of products that our Mom Creators mentioned as the “first thing they grab” when their little one starts to cough. Below are some recommendations from our mom. If your little one is sick, be sure to check with your pediatrician before introducing something new.

“The FridaBaby Humidifier is so important in my house, I have one for each bedroom! This one doubles as an essential oil diffuser and a nightlight too!” – Abbey S.

“For me when it came to the winter season or when my baby had a cold or even sick I would always give her Hylands Baby Mucus + Cold Relief. It works like a charm for her.” – Qwadajai Brown – Follow on IG and TikTok

“Zarbees Chest Rub. Ya’ll!!! It’s like Vicks but clean and safe for little ones and the smell is amazing. My little one loves it on his chest after bathtime and before bed cause it opens up his airways to help him breathe better.” – Hannah P. Follow on IG and TikTok

For the Skin

Winter wreaks havoc for our sinuses, but also our skin! The consistent dry and cold weather leads to eczema outbreaks, rashes, and discomfort. Many of our Moms immediately jumped to the lotions and creams that keep their littles (and themselves!) comfortable.

“We love our Aquaphor baby for baby’s skin- he has SUPER sensitive skin and it helped a lot, same with Tubby Todd which saved him from eczema and baby acne. Has been awesome this winter when he had dry patches.” – Jennifer Y. – Follow on IG and TikTok

“Tubby Todd! Definitely helpful during the cold dry months.” – Audrey M. – Follow on IG

“Tubby todd all over ointment! my boy has eczema and it gets awful during the winter. that clears it right up! I have 3 tubs.. in the diaper bag, bathroom, and in my car!” – Alicia M. – Follow on TikTok

“Cetaphil helps with my youngest’s dry winter (or summer) skin!!! She has sensitive skin and the winter weather really irritates her skin!!” – Nus B. – Follow on IG and TikTok

All About the Nipple

by Abby Ludwig Leave a Comment

We spend so much time talking about bottles. What’s important about bottles, what they’re made out of… the reality is – We have to start paying more attention to the nipple. Especially for those babies who are going between bottle and breast.

When you think about breastfed babies taking a bottle, the key is nipple placement. When they’re nursing, they’re actually taking the nipple and pulling it into their mouth to really reach back where their hard palate meets their soft palate. Your bottle nipples need to mimic that movement so that when they go between bottle and breast it is simple for them and comfortable for you.

Taking a closer look, you’ll see some anti-collapsible features built right into the nipple as well as vents. The vents are important because they allow air to escape while your little one eats. The non-collapsible design features ridges that prevent the nipple from inverting, so feeding time isn’t interrupted and baby keeps their natural latch. These are both features that will make the eating process so much more seamless. Bon appetit to your babes!

Thank you to Nanobébé for creating an excellent product and for your help with this post.

Check out more about their incredible line of products and see what real moms had to say.

Real Mom Reviews: Gladly Family Pod Diaper Bag

by Abby Ludwig Leave a Comment

Diaper Bags are often a new parents’ lifeline to the outside world. Fill with all of life’s necessities and you are ready to tackle the day. Of course, your must haves – diapers, wipes, and snacks/bottles for your little one are a must. But what if your diaper bag could also become a safe sleep environment for your little one? No more returning home for nap time, when you can nap on the go! Five families tested out Gladly Family’s Pod Diaper Bag. Here’s what they had to say.

Samira

The Gladly Pod Diaper Bag is seriously such a hit with my little one! We love it! I picked the gray color. Let me start by saying the buttery soft fabric is extremely high quality and looks very high-end. The way the bag easily zips and converts to the changing pod/bed is phenomenal. With the amount of space it has, I wasn’t expecting it to pull out into such a cozy baby bed with the patterned padded mattress insert with such a cute print. I love the zipper pockets in the front with lots of space for accessories, and I also love that you can carry it like a shoulder bag with the option to remove the straps or use the handles. I am going on a trip to PA next week and we are definitely bringing this bag so my LO who is 1 can nap during our layover or if I need to change any diapers in the airport. This bag is going to be so functional for our travels! Thank you Gladly Family.

Edith

I received this Gladly Family Diaper Bag as part of a product review. The Pod diaper bag shipped to me quickly and came packaged in an easy to open box and protective plastic bag. I took it out and my first reaction was how pretty the tan outside color and the silky floral pattern inside is. I opened the bag and was pleasantly surprised by how spacious it is. There are multiple pockets to hold our diapers, wipes, bottle, and clothes. I loved the changing station that folds out from this bag. Easy to use, big and roomy. Great to put baby in a safe space while napping on a trip outdoors. My favorite thing is how much room this bag has and that the fabrics are easy to clean. It’s comfortable to carry with the padded straps. Overall this is a fantastic diaper bag for on the go and especially family trips. I can carry everything I need for baby in one stylish bag.

Ankita

The Diaper bag has enough space to carry all the essentials needed on the go. It has insulated pockets for bottles and could even fit in a breast pump if you plan to pump on the airport or flight. The bag could hold diapers, wipes, change of clothes, burp clothes, bibs, creams, toys as well as meal time essentials like feeding bibs, spoons, storage containers. There are ample pockets to arrange all the items well. I even used it to store the medicines that might be needed while we were traveling. It helps in keeping all the baby items at one place so you do not have to worry about carrying multiple bags and it’s accepted as a carry-on luggage, fitting perfectly in the overhead bin. It is easy to carry, I had it attached to my travel luggage and was able to spin in around easily.

The travel cot is quick to assemble and disassemble and the iron rods are fitted well to make it sturdy and also hidden from baby’s view. The Gladly family has looked into security from all perspectives. It is perfect for those airport naps or if you want your baby to be confined to a safe space during layover. It is perfect for diaper changes as well. The color is gender neutral and perfect for both parents. We absolutely loved the product and highly recommend it.

Danielle

As a city mom of two young girls, I am always going! Between 1.5-mile-long walks to daycare, running to work meetings, and bopping around my city’s parks, cafes, play spaces, and restaurants – I need a bag to not only fit all of my little’s essentials but be as stylish as the stroller I am pushing and outfit I am wearing. The Gladly Family Pod Diaper Bag Changing Station & Travel Cot fulfills all those needs and so much more. There is plenty of room to carry all our essentials and backup emergency supplies. It can also open and expand into a mini cot to make diaper changes, nap time, and playtime outside safe and clean.

The bag is made of soft, luxe vegan leather.  I am a stickler for organization and easy to access belongings.  In the past, I had to purchase special organizers for my bag, however this bag as so many compartments designed for all different types of products.  From the insulated bottle holder to interior mesh storage pockets, interior zipper pockets and outside pockets to grab essentials quickly and easily – this bag has a home for all your needs.  It is also very comfortable to carry with many options to do so.  The straps easily adjust as well so if you have caregivers of different heights using the bag, they can do so without a problem.  Lightweight, stylish, easy to use, and roomy – the Gladly Family Pod Diaper Bag Changing Station & Travel Cot is a MUST have.

Fatema

The color and fabric of this bag is of very good quality. I do love the bed/changing feature as it is very spacious and can fit my one-year-old inside comfortably. The one thing I am not fond of is there are not many pockets in the bag to fit bottles and to keep things organized. However, the large side is very spacious and can fit most everyday essentials. A few things I wish this bag would have compared to the other diaper bags that I have used are multiple pockets, a USB port, and a backpack strap. Thank you again for giving me the opportunity to use and review this bag!

Thank you Gladly Family for allow some of our real moms to test your wonderful product!

Products We Love: Bonsie Baby

by Abby Ludwig Leave a Comment

Our army of parents is always here to spread the word about products they love. One brand we consistently receive rave reviews on is, Bonsie Baby. Making those early days of skin-to-skin time simple and easy, Bonsie Baby is a mom-founded brand with great clothing options for your little ones.

See what Rachel has to say about Bonsie Baby-

“Alright you guys, so I’m going to get emotional about this one. It was totally my favorite when Baldwin was born and now he’s a big… I remember emailing the company and saying, ‘Um, he’s outgrown them, can you make bigger sizes?’ Because I loved it so much.

Ok, so not only is it the softest fabric like ever, the patterns are super cute. They also have earth tones, which I’m a huge fan of if you guys know me, I’m like, the brown queen. Baldwin also had the stars, which I love. However, the real point of this is not only ease, right so they have the sack when you have a newborn, you don’t have to bother with right and left leg. But, easy in and out, but also mainly to promote skin-to-skin. And as a doula, as a lactation counselor, as a breastfeeding mom, I’m a huge fan.

And, what I love is they made this card [Boom!] to show you all the benefits. Skin-to-skin helps moms’ milk supply build, because it creates oxytocin. And it initiates breastfeeding, it helps baby cry less, it regulates their temperature and their heart rate. And it also really helps mom right, feel good as well. And it boosts brain development. So, we love skin-to-skin, and we also love a cute outfit. And we would really love a nap, but I’m being an influencer so we’re going to stop recording, happy shopping!”

Jocelyn, a NYC mom, is also a huge fan-

“Hey guys, it’s Jocelyn here, NYC mom to a 3-year-old and a (what are you now?) 11-12-week-old. This is Miles and today I wanted to review with you one of our favorite newborn outfits, by a brand called Bonsie. Bonsie was started by a fellow mom and I always love products by moms, because they know what we need. Ready for this? Skin-to-skin whenever you want it. And I love it!!

It was so nice when he was first born to be able to just open this up, keep him warm, but have that skin-to-skin contact. This one is a little small, it’s a newborn, so I need to order him the bigger size, but I wanted to be able to show you guys.

It’s made out of bamboo, so it’s been really soft the entire time. I washed it all the time and it kept up with softness. I would always say to my husband, ‘where’s the Bonsie onesie? That’s the one I want to put him in!’ And I actually just gave away most of his newborn gear, and this is the one item that I kept, because it has special memories because he wore it so often.

They have so many fun colors. I love the navy, because it goes with his eyes and I can’t say better things about this brand. Bye guys!”

The ESSENTIAL Nursing (or Pumping) Product

by Abby Ludwig Leave a Comment

Any guesses? We went back to our real moms who have to share the quintessential product to make nursing (or pumping) way more comfortable. No, it’s not a great pump, excellent bras, or nursing-friendly clothing – which are all things we love too. Instead, you have to have the best nipple around, by Earth Mama.

Erin’s review of Earth Mama’s Organic Nipple Butter

Erin: “I want to talk about a few mama products that I loved because I think we focus so much on baby, that we forget to take care of ourselves. And that’s so important. What I really loved early on was the Earth Mama Salve [I believe it’s a Nipple Balm] that you can use on cracked nipples. I also thought it was the best lip balm I’ve ever used in my life. I always kept it on my bedside table so that… in the beginning of my breastfeeding journey, we did have some latch issues, there was some cracking, there was a lot of discomfort, so I would apply that after feeding. It is safe to leave on, but it’s also the world’s best lip balm ever. I think I went through one little jar a month of it, I thought it was great.”

Lisa’s Review of Earth Mama’s Organic Nipple Butter

Lisa: “Hi, It’s Lisa from Gugu Guides. I had another recommendation I wanted to share with you today. It’s for Earth Mama Organic Nipple Butter. This stuff in the little pink jar is amazing. I used it for all three of my nursing journeys and it’s a lifesaver. It is super moisturizing and not with a big perfumy smell. It just smells clean and honestly just like I would expect a nipple butter to smell. But there’s no super odorous perfume to it, which is one of the main reasons I love it. I also use this for a lip balm. If you have dry lips, it makes your lips feel super soft and moisturized. And then another side use for this product, that I found, is if you have dried or cracked heels, this works really great, just overnight. Put it on, put some socks on, go to bed, and wake up with much smoother, soft, moisturized feet. A multi-use product for you and I highly recommend it.”

We also love that the nipple butter comes in a vegan option for our plant-based families.

Real Mom Reviews: Gladly Family Merritt Portable Playard Suite

by Abby Ludwig Leave a Comment

When Gladly Family set out to create the ultimate playard, simplicity was key. Safe for newborns – 50 lbs, this playard is perfect for your growing family. It folds in a flash and includes a changing station, great for long-term use. The included backpack storage makes travel a breeze, and everything is machine washable. Check out what some of our families (check here for current opportunities) had to say after testing the Merritt Playard with their littles.

Ankita

The portable playard is well made, it is sturdy yet the design is sleek and modern and easy to move. I have used it on a hardwood floor and carpeted floor and it works great with both. It does not skid on either of the surfaces. The weight limit on the playard is comparatively larger than many other products in the market which is a huge benefit as it could be used for a longer duration. The assembly is easy as well as the instruction manual is well explained. I love how well the changing station holds on the playard, absolutely perfect to have and saves space with its design. The mat on the changing table is waterproof for surprise moments while diaper changes. The mattress is very comfortable and sturdy, they have considered the needs of newborns and infants while designing it which provides the needed support to the baby.

Love that the fabric is machine washable or it could also be easily cleaned with a wipe. The mesh provides great ventilation to the baby. It provides a safe play space to my baby while I work and watch him play. The diaper caddy is big enough to hold everything you will need. The best part is the fast, one-hand fold. Truly amazing. The color is gender neutral and perfect to go with the aesthetics of any decor and its backpack is great to store and carry along. We absolutely loved the product and highly recommend it.

Christine

As a two-under-two mom, having a portable playard that is versatile enough to work for both my newborn and my toddler is a must. I really liked knowing this playard works from birth to 50 pounds, so we can use it for a long time! I also quite often find myself only having one hand free, so many other portable products are too hard for me to assemble or disassemble on my own. With this playard, I can set up and tear down with literally one hand. Definitely great for moms that are on the go with multiple kids!

Jillian

We are pretty big fans of the Merrit Playard after testing it out. I was a bit skeptical when the package first arrived because it has “HEAVY” written all over it, It was pretty heavy when we brought it in, too. However, once we opened it up, we noticed the backpack carrying straps. We were no longer concerned because we knew it’d be easy to transport, and it was.

Setting it up was a breeze! Significantly easier than using a traditional pack and play, it basically popped into place. The clips for the bassinet take some coaxing to get on the top railing, but the bassinet is pretty stable and the changing table works great. I would recommend this over any other playard I’ve seen in the market.  My only complaint is that the accessory caddy is going to be challenging to keep organized as each section is pretty big, but with a small opening – however, that won’t deter me from using this!
