Top Tips for Building a Beautiful Gender-Neutral Nursery

by Christine Swearingen Leave a Comment

The trend of creating a gender-neutral space continues to grow. Parents want to create a timeless and versatile space for their little one that blends seamlessly into their home. In this guide, we’ll explore how to create a calming, gender-neutral nursery. We’ll explore serene hues and comforting natural tones to craft a space everyone will love.

Gender-Neutral Nursery

Gender-neutral nurseries throw away the traditional blue-for-boys and pink-for-girls mentality. Instead, these spaces embrace inclusive decor and earthy tones for a welcoming atmosphere.

Parents are flocking toward creating gender-neutral nurseries to create a space that transitions with their children as they grow.

Why choose a gender-neutral nursery?

Choosing to go the gender-neutral route in your nursery design can be a difficult choice. Many nursery items are gender-specific, making shopping challenging.

However, if the allure of a gender-neutral nursery is pulling you in, consider these benefits:

  • Flexibility. Neutral colors and versatile decor ensure your nursery stays stylish for years to come. Gender-neutral nursery palettes grow with your child and don’t need to be updated as your little one outgrows the baby stage.
  • Beauty. Traditionally loud, contrasting colors can make your nursery an eyesore. Natural tones and comforting hues create a feeling of serenity and blend your nursery into your home’s environment.
  • Practicality. By using neutral, basic colors and decor, your nursery will serve your family for years. As you add future siblings, your nursery will be prepared to welcome them.

Choosing to create a gender-neutral nursery may take more planning on the front end. But, the timeless, beautiful space will benefit your family throughout the newborn stage and beyond.

Key Elements of a Gender-Neutral Nursery

Crafting a gender-neutral nursery is unique to your family’s style. You will select colors and pieces that blend in with your home’s environment. Consider these elements of a well-balanced nursery.

Color palette

Choosing the right colors is the crucial first step in creating your soothing space.

Consider soft neutrals such as beige, grey, white, and tan as the background of your nursery. These colors create the foundation for serenity and lend themselves well to additional design elements. Neutrals and earth tones offer the flexibility to add personalization over time.

4moms tip: choose a soft, airy neutral for the largest areas of your nursery. Walls and large furniture pieces make the perfect canvases for serene colors. Layer in warmer tones and pops of color with accent pieces and accessories.

Furniture

Maintain the focus on versatility and timelessness when selecting furniture pieces. Each piece in your nursery should serve a purpose and provide function as your child grows.

Consider adding these furniture pieces to your cohesive space:

  • A convertible crib. A stylish crib that grows with your baby will provide function for years.
  • Storage pieces. Opt for changing tables and dressers with sturdy storage for clothes as your baby grows.
  • Chair. Choose a comfortable chair that serves as a rocker for the nursery and will flow seamlessly into another room of your home once you’re ready to move it.

White and natural wood finishes create a timeless look with furniture and guarantee beauty that lasts.

Textures and fabrics

Textures play a vital role in creating a cozy, comfortable gender-neutral nursery.

Choose soft, breathable fabrics for the largest areas like bedding and curtains. Layer different textures like knitted blankets, plush rugs, and cotton cushions to add depth and comfort.

Don’t be afraid to play with color and pattern as you add in different fabrics. Choose warm, tranquil colors that coordinate with your walls and furniture. Simple, delicate patterns can elevate your design and add visual stimulation.

Begin with these key elements when creating your gender-neutral nursery. This will lay the beautiful foundation for your versatile, adaptable space.

J’Adore Lexie Couture’s Hospital Bag

by Gugu Guru 1 Comment

Lexie of J’Adore Lexie Couture, new mom to baby Viggo and lover of all things girly & glam shares the wonderful things she packed in her Petunia Pickle Bottom bag for her latest hospital stay to make it as comfortable and pampered as could be…

My little one has arrived and with that fact I wanted to share what I packed for the hospital stay for my baby #3.

The Bag

The Diaper Bag has to be at the top of your list. You need a fabulous bag to carry all the darling little things for bebe. I was so excited to try out this lovely cut velvet diaper bag from Petunia Pickle Bottom. I’ve heard many good things about these darling diaper bags. So, of course, I have this beauty stuffed and I am so eager to test it out. Read on to find out what I packed in my bags for my hospital stay.

Packing Your Bag for Hospital

I remember when it was time to pack for my first, Chloe, and how overwhelmed I felt! I literally thought that I needed absolutely everything under the sun and I was so nervous about being prepared when it came to my hospital stay and what I needed in the diaper bag.

Just like with my baby registry for my first, I had way more than I actually needed, and I also wasn’t as prepared comfort-wise for myself. Now I have an even better sense of what to gather to make things go as smoothly as possible. So, here are my essentials:

Nursing Tanks
When packing for myself the first things that rush to my mind are comfortable and easily accessible clothing for nursing. I personally love nursing tank tops because you don’t have to fiddle with a bra and a top during those first few days of adjusting to baby. I like to plan to make things go as easily as possible so I can truly enjoy the experience instead of feeling overwhelmed and uncomfortable, ya know?

Nursing Tanks

I went with Gilligan O’Malley Nursing Tanks at Target because out of the different ones I’ve tried I prefer them best. They get the job done, they don’t wear so fast and I found these cute new styled ones with buttons that I’m eager to try. I packed three for the hospital and in neutral colors as well (but if they had pink as an option I would have been all over that!!!!).

Robes Are An Absolute Essential
When I was at the hospital last year with my 2nd, Ivy, I absolutely LOVED having the Target – Gilligan O’Malley Robes. I seriously lived in them while pregnant and at the hospital. They’re so incredibly cozy, comfy and breathable. This is really important to be because I absolutely hate being hot! These specific robes are so perfect for the hospital because they provide quick and easy coverage for when you’re nursing, and trying to keep covered with all of the random people you don’t know that keep coming in and out of your room.

Plum Pretty Sugar

I also packed this Plum Pretty Sugar robe that has a feminine touch to it for the special photos with my little one!

Comfy Pants
Once again I’m going to refer you right back to Target here with Women’s Fluid Knit Pajama Pant – Gilligan & O’Malley. These pants are truly a dream. Are you noticing a trend here? Gilligan & O’Malley has this comfort stuff pretty well figured out!

Pajama Pants

The comfort they provide and the breathability as well, had me buying a pair of these in every color. I really couldn’t help myself. And you know you’ll be sore, crampy and what not at the hospital so just go ahead and treat yo self with these babies.

Slip on Socks

Socks/Slippers
Call me weird, I’ll take it, but I’m really not one for wearing socks or slippers. I wear mostly ballet flats and I just like to slip them on as is but for the hospital, socks and slippers are a must. I’m not hating, what-so-ever, on hospital cleaning crews, but come on, you don’t know what’s been on those floors! (or maybe you do) so the feet shall be covered! And I picked up some cute little socks from Target to cover me here as well.

Specially-Made Hospital Gown
This was another first for me when it comes to my hospital stay and I was so excited! Pink is so me and I also happen to love polka dots, oh so very much.

Annie and Isabel

I know some people may think that having a special hospital gown is unnecessary but hey it adds to my excitement and I don’t know if we’ll be having another little one so I just want to treat myself and have a girly-unique-and-not-previously-worn gown for my baby’s arrival!

Annie and Isabel

By the way I got this adorable gown from Annie and Isabel, two sisters that also happen to be registered nurses that started up their darling shop, Annie & Isabel over 7 years ago. They make beautiful gowns that are not just for births too! Besides our beautiful mamas, women who have cancer, radiation treatments, and any hospital stay enjoy their designer hospital gowns. I absolutely loved wearing mine!

Belly Support
For my last two pregnancies, I didn’t actually give any belly support products a try, but this pregnancy I have done and am doing some experimenting with them.

Belly Bandit

For the hospital I packed a Belly Bandit in hopes of having more tummy support. I remember last year my belly just felt so weird those first few weeks because there was no more baby and my muscles were taking their sweet time pulling back together. This time I went to the hospital prepared with this pretty supportive band to not only add support but also get my belly back to where it was pre-baby faster! I’ll keep you updated as to how that goes in later posts just in case ya wanna know!

Undergarments
Although I like to wear nursing tanks, I also packed a few nursing bras just in case! And I just so happened to pack some You! Lingerie ones because I love their pops of color and cute feminine attention to details! I mean seriously how often do you find nursing bras like these?!

Nursing Bras

Now for panties, I packed boy shorts. For full coverage bottoms, they’re my style-go-to and I don’t want to talk too much into details, but you must know you’ll be needing a lot of coverage down there right after baby. The ones I picked up for this hospital stay happen to be Gilligan & O’Malley too! Surprise surprise lol

Going Home Outfit

Going Home Outfit
Let’s not forget about your outfit for going home! You may not be feeling so glamorous at this point and that’s totally ok! If you prefer to just wear some comfy sweats on the way there’s nothing wrong with that my dear! I plan on wearing a cozy sweater, over a nursing tank, and if I feel up for it wearing my ASOS maternity jeggings with some comfy ballet flats.

Beauty Essentials

Let’s Talk Beauty
My favorite thing to have on hand at the hospital (or anywhere) is a great face moisturizer and definitely dry shampoo! Cannot live with out that! Drybar by the way makes the best one ever and trust me I’ve tried so many! Any-hoo here’s just a quick list of what you should include: Brush, Makeup, Cleanser, Lotion, Moisturizer, Dry Shampoo, ToothBrush/Toothpaste, Deodorant.

Baby Clothes

All Things Baby: Here are just a few ideas for packing: Baby Gowns, Onesies, Blankets, Mittens, Socks, Burp Cloths, Caps, Car Seat, Pacifiers (just in case) and Poppy/Nursing-type Pillows.

Other Essentials: Camera/SD Card/Charger, Notebook/Pen, Cell Phone Chargers, Personal Pillow (if you’re like me and hate thin pillows) and Personal Blanket

I hope you enjoyed learning about all the things I packed in my hospital bag. I discovered My Petunia Pickle Bottom bag through my amazing registry site Gugu Guru because it matches my personal style.

New Mom Series: Infant Bathing

by Gugu Guru 5 Comments

[et_pb_section admin_label=”section”] [et_pb_row admin_label=”row”] [et_pb_column type=”4_4″][et_pb_text admin_label=”Text”]

Warning: the images in this post may cause cuteness overload. 🙂

Welcome to Gugu Guru’s New Mom Series, where we provide helpful information for new and expecting moms about preparing and registering for baby.  For this Safe Infant Bathing feature, we have partnered up with mama Krista Horton, 4moms, Little Giraffe, and Babyganics.

Tip: When your baby is brand new, most experts recommend that you stick with sponge baths for a few weeks, or at least until their umbilical cord stump falls off. Your newborn won’t need a sponge bath every day; two or three times per week is fine. This is because your little one can lose body heat very quickly.  Using a warm washcloth (you don’t really even need soap for the early days), just give baby a quick once-over and then snuggle them in a cozy towel.

Krista Horton’s 3 month old daughter is ready to start bathing in an infant tub. The first step? Reading up on Bathtime Safety!

New Mom Series: Infant Bathing

Baby Bathing Tips:

  • Collect all bathing materials before starting the bath.
  • Typically the water temperature for baby should be 90-100 degrees.
  • Never lift the tub or seat with baby in it.
  • No water should be in adult tub or sink.
  • Keep adult drain open when using baby tub.
  • Bath seats should only be used with child who can sit unassisted.
  • Ignore distractions – never leave your child unattended.

New Mom Series: Infant Bathing Safety

Based on her lifestyle and budget, Gugu Guru recommended the 4Moms Infant Tub, for Krista’s registry.  The 4Moms Infant Tub, may be a Gugu Guru best match for you if: you live in a house (i.e., more space), your budget is “middle of the road” and you like a modern aesthetic .

In Krista’s words:
“This tub does all the dirty work for you. I love that it monitors the temperature for you and beeps if the water is too hot. I also love how it filters out the water during the bath so my baby could have warm, fresh water the entire bath!”

New Mom Series: Safe Infant Bathing

For baby’s personal care, Gugu Guru recommends Babyganics Baby-Safe Hero Essentials Gift Set. The set has a variety of essentials for bathing, including necessities like: Moisturizing Daily Lotion, Baby Bubble Bath, Foaming Baby Shampoo and Body Wash – all in a delicious Chamomile Verbena scent. Gugu Guru recommends Babyganics across all registries because of the brand’s affordability and totally responsible and safe formulations.

In Krista’s words:
“I love that the Babyganics products are natural and gentle for my baby’s delicate skin and the fresh, chamomile scent!”

New Mom Series: Infant Bathtime Safety

For the bath towel, Gugu Guru recommended the softest and cutest towel to fit Krista’s budget and style — the Plush Hooded Baby Towel from Little Giraffe. Little Giraffe is known for its high-quality, super soft products and signature chenille textiles.

In Krista’s words:
“Cutest, softest little set! I love the material and the size was perfect because a lot of baby towels and washcloths are too small for my liking!”

New Mom Series: Safe Infant Bathing

Bathtime was completed with Babyganics’ Moisturizing Daily Lotion along with some kisses from mom. Squeaky clean…safely.

New Mom Series: Safe Infant Bathing

Krista: I am Krista Horton, 29 years old, married to my favorite guy and mama to Boston (2) and Kollyns (3 months). I am a stay at home mama and I wouldn’t have it any other way! I absolutely love being home with my babies and we love getting out and about and going on as many adventures as we can!

4moms: 4moms® is a consumer technology company that leverages robotics, technology and innovative design to disrupt and redefine existing industries. The company has transformed the baby gear industry with products like the 4moms origami®, the world’s only power-‐folding stroller; the 4moms mamaRoo® infant seat that replicates the bouncing and swaying motions parents make when soothing their babies; and the 4moms breeze® playard that opens or closes in one simple step.

Little Giraffe:  Little Giraffe is known for creating top-of-the-line, luxury baby blankets and newborn essentials. All Little Giraffe products are made from the highest quality, softest textiles, and provide not only comfort, but soothe and calm baby for restful sleep.

Babyganics: When we started families of our own, we found we shared a “grown up” mission: to help parents like us create a baby-safe world. We’d do this by creating a world of products made to go wherever babies go (pretty much everywhere). Because exploring and discovering is a baby’s full time job. Our job—every parent’s job— is to make it safe for babies to do theirs. It’s the best way to make sure they fully develop and thrive.

Mom Creator Curations: The Best Baby Travel Gear

by Gugu Guru 4 Comments

Although wild weather and snowstorms seem to be spreading throughout the country, spring travel really is around the corner. We have reached out to our network of mom creators to help us discuss their must-have travel products for baby. See what they had to say below and for extra credit, give them a follow!

Plane Travel with Baby: Comfort

Anytime you head to the airport with baby, there can be a great deal of unpredictability. Flight delays, nap disruptions, and the inability to ‘exit’ can add a layer of stress to any travel day. Our mom creators have so many suggestions for keeping your little one busy on the plane. Take a look!

Feeding schedules can be a logistical nightmare when you’re flying with your little one. If you’re bottle feeding, be sure to bring extra breastmilk or formula in case of delays. Also, load up a few extra bottles in case you aren’t able to clean your bottles as you would at home. We prefer Nanobebe’s Flexy silicone bottles (like Madison C.), which are lightweight and leakproof. Their wide base makes them a great choice for travel as they are much sturdier while filling on the go.

A great carrier will make travel day a cinch. Something that’s comfy to wear and easy to put on is always our go-to recommendation. We also love something that folds up small to take up barely any space in your carry-on (which we know is already filled with TONS of snacks). Check out the Ergobaby Embrace or the Baby Bjorn Mini. As an added bonus, these will double as a nursing cover if you’re breastfeeding on takeoff or landing.

Travel with Baby: Simplicity

Toys to help keep your little one busy are always a hit. Fat Brain Toy Company’s Squigz and Whirly Squigz are a favorite for Shannon W. “They are easy to stick to the window, tray table, or even your own forehead! They are easy to clean and don’t take up much space.”

If you are looking for that great travel stroller with baby, look no further! Doona’s all-in-one car seat/stroller makes travel a breeze. Chelsea A. agrees – “The Doona makes everything easier!” The wheels pop right out from the infant seat, meaning you no longer have to travel with a car seat AND a stroller.

Go-Be Sleeves are also a must when traveling with littles. Keep those germs at bay with the easy-to-use tray table cover. See what Cassy A. has to say about this travel essential.

Looking for a more traditional travel stroller? Take a look at our highlight of Lightweight Travel Strollers.

Destination Essentials

Whether you’re taking that cross-country flight or jumping into the car for your annual road trip, let’s talk about some necessities at your destination.

If your destination doesn’t include a safe place for baby to sleep, be sure to pack one. We love recommending playards. They fold up and can move with you on the go. Check out the options by Graco, 4moms and Guava Family. Expert tip – Pair with a Slumberpod to create a dark sleep environment even when you’re sleeping in the same room!

A stroller wagon (check out the newest lineup from Larktale!) can be a game-changer when you’re traveling with your baby. Most stroller wagons will give you great push or pull access and they will also double as great storage. When you’re going to be active during the day, a stroller wagon will always fit the bill.

Lastly, travel with baby isn’t complete without your play and entertainment items. First, your playard can easily transform from sleep to play throughout the day. Looking to recreate your playmat? Grab a swaddle blanket, some teethers and stuffed animals and you’ve got an on-the-go activity mat.

If all else fails, Shannon B. swears by the Busy Baby Mat while traveling with her little one. “I have a 2 year old daughter, we are out and about often which often includes a stop for lunch. I never leave the house without our BusyBaby Mat! The bottle leash was super helpful when she was taking a bottle, so she couldn’t throw it!”

Allergen-Free Round Up

by Gugu Guru 4 Comments

It’s allergy season but for babies that can be year-round. Babies’ skin is sensitive and there’s nothing worse than when they’re having an allergic reaction to something not food-related and you can’t figure out the cause. That’s why allergen-free products are not only healthy for baby but put your mind at ease, too! Read on about some of our favorite products for your baby registry that are allergen-free and then enter to win them all:

Bambo Nature Diapers

Bambo Nature
Looking for an allergen-free and eco-friendly way to diaper your baby, but still want disposable diapers? Bambo Nature is the perfect answer. Made to fit your baby’s growing body, these diapers are free from chlorine, perfumes, optical brighteners and lotions, as well as phthalates, latex, and gluten. Bambo Nature diapers feature a breathable back-sheet, which ensures that the skin can breathe, keeping the skin drier and less prone to rash or infection. Bambo Nature also features hypoallergenic baby wipes and training pants for older toddlers.

Breeze-All-Colors-Front
Lullaby Earth Breeze Mattress
Babies spend a lot of time sleeping (if you’re lucky!), so many parents are looking for allergen-free and healthy crib mattresses. Lullaby Earth Breeze mattresses are made without vinyl, PVC, and phthalates; they are also free of flame retardants, yet still pass all government flammability standards. In order to provide a waterproof barrier, Lullaby Earth uses food-grade polyethylene and does not contain any polyurethane foam, which is known to “off-gas,” and is not healthy for small babies. But, the best part of Lullaby Earth mattresses are that they are the only crib mattress to offer a breathable surface with a waterproof core; this means that they are completely allergy-friendly for even the most sensitive of babies.

Molly's Suds Starter Pack

Molly’s Suds
Started by a mom and nurse, Molly’s Suds features laundry powders, cloth diaper wash, and even dog shampoo – all of which are phthalate and fragrance-free, as well as aluminum free. Have a baby with super sensitive skin? You’re going to want to wash baby’s clothing and cloth diapers in Molly’s Suds. With their “no compromise” attitude, you can rest easy knowing that what your baby is wearing, swaddled in, and sleeping in all day long is washed with only healthy, non-toxic ingredients.

“Smart” Registry Round-Up

by Gugu Guru Leave a Comment

Technology is great… when it works! Here we are to discuss some of our favorite “smart” baby products for 2023 that will absolutely make your life with kiddos easy peasy!

Nanit Discount

Smart Baby Monitors

Gone are the days of the audio-only baby monitors that many parents used to rely on. Now, parents want real-time information about their little ones to keep worries at bay. The newest monitors on the market are able to give you clear video while tracking things like breathing and sleep. They will alert you when your baby wakes up in the morning, your toddler rolls over in bed, or your big kid jumps out of bed to use the potty.

Nanit offers a sleek smart camera with a variety of stand options. They track sleep history and analytics to provide parents with insight into sleep patterns. Pair with their Breathing Wear to keep an eye on baby from anywhere!

We also love the smart monitor by Miku. They have come up with a way to monitor your little one (including breathing) without any wearables. Like Nanit, they have two-way audio and you can check in from anywhere.

Hatch Grow Changing Pad (and Rest Sound Machine)

The biggest worry parents have for their newborn is if he or she is gaining enough weight. Parents tend to track every feeding, diaper, and milestone. However, tracking weight is generally done only at the pediatrician. The Hatch Grow Changing Pad allows you to monitor baby’s weight between pediatrician appointments. While it’s not a replacement for doctor’s weight visits, it will help ease your mind.

Hatch has also secured their place in the smart bedtime routine. Hatch Rest has become a must-have accessory for many of our families, who love to pair the nightlight/sound machine with their smartphone. The Rest + has a laundry list of features, and will last well beyond the toddler stage!

Blueberry Pediatrics

We’ve been at this COVID lifestyle for more than 2 years. As you’ve parented throughout the Pandemic, you have most likely dealt with other illnesses – RSV, Flu, Strep, Ear Infections, Colds, the list goes on. Wouldn’t it be nice to be connected to a team of Pediatricians who were available 24/7, 365 days a year so you could avoid unnecessary trips to the Emergency Room or Urgent Care when your pediatrician’s office is unavailable? You can! Blueberry Pediatrics provides access to pediatricians around the clock. They can help check your child out and even call prescriptions into your pharmacy. No longer worry about your little one getting sick in the evening (or on vacation, like our kids always do!). Don’t take our word for it! See what Cassy – a mom of 3 who spends lots of time at the pediatrician, has to say.

Mom Creator Curations: Bundle Up Edition

by Abby Ludwig Leave a Comment

Let’s shoot straight. You can only stay inside with your littles for so many days in a row. Occasionally as the temperature drops, it’s necessary to bundle up and get some fresh air. We asked our network of Mom Creators to share their favorite products to keep their little ones (and themselves!) warm while playing outside.

For Mom (or Dad!)

“The 3-in-1 Maternity Parka from Seraphine! This has been a game changer for babywearing when it’s cold in New England. My 14-month-old will sleep in the carrier when I have this on so its a sanity saver when I can’t be inside any longer!” Sabrina J. Follow on IG and TikTok

“One of my favorite winter items are the 7AM Enfant Stroller hand warmmuffs. They help avoid misplaced gloves while attending to your child and double to keep your hands toasty on those really cold frigid days.” – Selina A. Follow on IG and TikTok

“The “zip us in” insert that allows you to baby wear with any coat!” – Rachael S. Follow on IG

For the Toddler

“My must-have winter product was the JJ Cole Bundleme that we put on the stroller, which allows us to get out all winter long. Bundle the kids up and let the have just a little bit of fresh air that they so desperately need! My 2.5-year-olds still fit comfortably in these and are snug as a bug (or two bugs in my case).” Abby L. Follow on IG and TikTok

“For sledding we went with the classic Target snow bibs and Cuddle Dud or Under Armour layering pieces.” – Ashleigh S. Follow on IG and TikTok

“Kids warmmuffs by 7AM Enfant are great for those piggyback/wheel board riders who are also battling the cold with you. They even grow with your toddlers and double as scooter hand warmers. Definitely a plus for us New Yorkers (or others living in a cold city) that still have to run daily errands on those super colder days.” Selina A. Follow on IG and TikTok

For your Infant

“Zutano booties! No fussing with socks that don’t stay on their feet and if they kick the blanket off, it’s okay!” – Shannon W. Follow on IG and TikTok

“Carter’s Sherpa Bunting. We’re in Buffalo, NY and we had two major lake effect blizzards this winter so far and I couldn’t have lived without [this]. It has foldovers for the hands so I didn’t have to worry about mittens!” Ashleigh S. Follow on IG and TikTok

“A stroller muff is one of our favorite winter gear items. Perfect for keeping kiddos cozy during outdoor walks. Pro tip: we ordered the larger toddler size and found it works even with smaller babies!” – Samantha F. Follow on IG

Mom Creator Curations: Medicine Cabinet Edition

by Abby Ludwig Leave a Comment

Winter has arrived in much of the country, and while snowmen are cute, the seasonal sicknesses are not. Colds, Flu, COVID, and even a simple case of sniffles can disrupt every parent’s dream of regular routine activities. We polled our huge network of Mom Creators to see what products they have on hand to help battle the winter bugs.

For the Nose

We had SO much feedback about different nasal aspirators. NoseFrida continues to be a top recommendation from so many moms. We also have a number of moms who have switched to electric aspirators (Thanks, Alex R. for being the first rec here!). Pair the aspirators with some boogie wipes and/or saline spray to help your littles keep those noses clear. They also LOVE what Frida has to offer! See what our Mom Creators had to say:

“NoseFrida and saline for babies and toddlers ?? I’m a nurse practitioner and that has always been our go-to for colds and other upper respiratory illnesses.” – Kari Z. Follow on IG and TikTok

“Definitely the NoseFrida!” – Sarah H. – Follow on IG

“The NoseFrida and basic saline spray works wonders for stuffy noses! It looks gross, but it’s the best parenting hack out there!” – Kaitlyn T. – Follow on IG and TikTok

“Boogie Wipes have always been helpful when fighting those winter stuffy noses. They may be located in the baby section of the stores, but my kids (ages 8 & 11) still use them!” – Elizabeth D. – Follow on IG and TikTok

For the Congestion

There were a number of products that our Mom Creators mentioned as the “first thing they grab” when their little one starts to cough. Below are some recommendations from our mom. If your little one is sick, be sure to check with your pediatrician before introducing something new.

“The FridaBaby Humidifier is so important in my house, I have one for each bedroom! This one doubles as an essential oil diffuser and a nightlight too!” – Abbey S.

“For me when it came to the winter season or when my baby had a cold or even sick I would always give her Hylands Baby Mucus + Cold Relief. It works like a charm for her.” – Qwadajai Brown – Follow on IG and TikTok

“Zarbees Chest Rub. Ya’ll!!! It’s like Vicks but clean and safe for little ones and the smell is amazing. My little one loves it on his chest after bathtime and before bed cause it opens up his airways to help him breathe better.” – Hannah P. Follow on IG and TikTok

For the Skin

Winter wreaks havoc for our sinuses, but also our skin! The consistent dry and cold weather leads to eczema outbreaks, rashes, and discomfort. Many of our Moms immediately jumped to the lotions and creams that keep their littles (and themselves!) comfortable.

“We love our Aquaphor baby for baby’s skin- he has SUPER sensitive skin and it helped a lot, same with Tubby Todd which saved him from eczema and baby acne. Has been awesome this winter when he had dry patches.” – Jennifer Y. – Follow on IG and TikTok

“Tubby Todd! Definitely helpful during the cold dry months.” – Audrey M. – Follow on IG

“Tubby todd all over ointment! my boy has eczema and it gets awful during the winter. that clears it right up! I have 3 tubs.. in the diaper bag, bathroom, and in my car!” – Alicia M. – Follow on TikTok

“Cetaphil helps with my youngest’s dry winter (or summer) skin!!! She has sensitive skin and the winter weather really irritates her skin!!” – Nus B. – Follow on IG and TikTok

aden + anais

aden + anais was founded by a mom who wanted to bring her love of swaddles to the masses. They are the original creator of the cotton muslin swaddle, but now there’s so much more they offer. The muslin swaddle blankets were an instant hit, and have since been a newborn staple for many parents since the company’s launch in 2006.

Solly Baby

Elle Rowley made the first Solly Baby wrap in 2011 after the birth of her second child. She wanted something comfortable that allowed her to wear her newborn, and keep up with her toddler. She became hooked after experiencing the closeness and comfort a wrap offered her with her child. While the postpartum period can be tough for many moms, she believes the connection made between mom and baby can be pretty magical—and Solly Baby’s wraps aim to help nurture that bond.

These baby brands were created by moms who saw a problem and created a solution that benefits all moms in different stages of parenting. Consider shopping with some mom-owned companies this Christmas!

Products We Love: Bonsie Baby

by Abby Ludwig Leave a Comment

Our army of parents is always here to spread the word about products they love. One brand we consistently receive rave reviews on is, Bonsie Baby. Making those early days of skin-to-skin time simple and easy, Bonsie Baby is a mom-founded brand with great clothing options for your little ones.

See what Rachel has to say about Bonsie Baby-

“Alright you guys, so I’m going to get emotional about this one. It was totally my favorite when Baldwin was born and now he’s a big… I remember emailing the company and saying, ‘Um, he’s outgrown them, can you make bigger sizes?’ Because I loved it so much.

Ok, so not only is it the softest fabric like ever, the patterns are super cute. They also have earth tones, which I’m a huge fan of if you guys know me, I’m like, the brown queen. Baldwin also had the stars, which I love. However, the real point of this is not only ease, right so they have the sack when you have a newborn, you don’t have to bother with right and left leg. But, easy in and out, but also mainly to promote skin-to-skin. And as a doula, as a lactation counselor, as a breastfeeding mom, I’m a huge fan.

And, what I love is they made this card [Boom!] to show you all the benefits. Skin-to-skin helps moms’ milk supply build, because it creates oxytocin. And it initiates breastfeeding, it helps baby cry less, it regulates their temperature and their heart rate. And it also really helps mom right, feel good as well. And it boosts brain development. So, we love skin-to-skin, and we also love a cute outfit. And we would really love a nap, but I’m being an influencer so we’re going to stop recording, happy shopping!”

Jocelyn, a NYC mom, is also a huge fan-

“Hey guys, it’s Jocelyn here, NYC mom to a 3-year-old and a (what are you now?) 11-12-week-old. This is Miles and today I wanted to review with you one of our favorite newborn outfits, by a brand called Bonsie. Bonsie was started by a fellow mom and I always love products by moms, because they know what we need. Ready for this? Skin-to-skin whenever you want it. And I love it!!

It was so nice when he was first born to be able to just open this up, keep him warm, but have that skin-to-skin contact. This one is a little small, it’s a newborn, so I need to order him the bigger size, but I wanted to be able to show you guys.

It’s made out of bamboo, so it’s been really soft the entire time. I washed it all the time and it kept up with softness. I would always say to my husband, ‘where’s the Bonsie onesie? That’s the one I want to put him in!’ And I actually just gave away most of his newborn gear, and this is the one item that I kept, because it has special memories because he wore it so often.

They have so many fun colors. I love the navy, because it goes with his eyes and I can’t say better things about this brand. Bye guys!”
