7am Feeding Time
Mom of twins, Abby L., tries Neat Solutions’ Paw Patrol Bibs – These are an adorable way to keep your little ones clean while letting them “wear” their favorite characters. They clean up well with just warm water, but you can throw them in the washing machine as well. Also, my little ones have extremely sensitive skin and they did not seem to be too tight around the neck/chin area, which often causes rashes for us. We also tried a toddler bib, which has an extended covering on top of each shoulder. It is a bit longer also, which helped keep our laps clean during lunch. After we were done eating, it was really easy to wipe this bib clean and it dried within minutes.
Mom of 2-year old, Shana S., tries Neat Solutions’ Sesame Street Bibs – Like most 2-year-olds, my daughter is currently obsessed with Elmo and Abby Cadabby. She also isn’t very keen on wearing bibs anymore either, even though mealtimes can still get pretty messy. This bib solves both problems – it goes over her head, so it can’t be pulled off like her velcro closure bibs and it has very wide coverage, so it helps keep her clean better than smaller bibs. The best part, since it has her favorite characters, I don’t have to convince her to put it on!
Mom of 10-month-old, Lori W., tries Neat Solutions’ Bib & Burp Products – My initial thought when I unpacked it was that it is quite small in size. However after using it I actually like how compact it is without extra fabric, which my baby usually paws at. The pocket is great too.
Mom of 1-year-old, Alyssa J., tries Neat Solutions’ Printed Coverall Easywipe Bib With Clear Crumbcatcher – This is super cute and generously-sized to cover more of my baby’s clothes while she is eating. I appreciate the extra coverage for my messy eater! The clear crumbcatcher is really useful for seeing right away what has been caught in the pocket so that I can clear it out after the meal without finding any squishy surprises later. I love how easy it really is to wipe the bib down, and the hook and loop closure is a lot easier than tying string too.
Mom of 3-month-old and 1-year-old, Sunny L., tries Neat Solutions’ Bib & Burp Products – The biggest positive for me is the velcro fastener behind the neck. It doesn’t have any of the scratchy, coarse velcro, keeping my daughter from grabbing/itching at the back.

I have never seen a silicone table mat like this, and it stays put on every surface I tried! My boys could not lift it up and it was so easy to clean. Plus, it’s dishwasher safe for big messes! I am definitely going to add this table topper to my new list of must-haves for parents with toddlers who like to eat away from home.
Mom of 3-month-old and 1-year-old, Sunny L., tries Neat Solutions’ Sili-Stick Table Topper – My favorite item from this bunch! It’s super sticky and says put. At home, it keeps my tabletop clean, because my older child is really into smearing things around. I love the size of this mat, and after meals I just peel it up and dump in the sink. So great for eating out, too. It rolls up pretty small, and could also be folded to make it more packable. I am always scrubbing restaurant tables when I get there to try to get them cleaner for her food to sit on, and this makes the process so much easier. It’s big enough to cover any area in public her little hands could reach and keep her food germ-free.
Mom of 1-year-old, Alyssa J., tries the Neat Solutions’ Sili-Stick Table Topper – This is my new best friend for meals out of the house with baby. I don’t have to worry about the cleanliness of our dining table when I can make sure the Sili-Stick is a clean surface for baby to eat off of. The lovely mama-to-be, Nancy Anderson is back sharing her top natural products for pre-pregnancy, pregnancy, breastfeeding, and beyond! Check out her last post on why it’s tricky to loose weight while breastfeeding.
What you put in your body is something that most women are becoming aware of during pregnancy, breastfeeding and beyond. What we put in your body goes to your baby. It’s filtered through your placenta but essentially the placenta can’t catch all the bad so if there are chemicals of toxins in your foods, your baby will end up getting some of that. For this reason we are all more aware of what we are eating and drinking during pregnant and breastfeeding. Caffeine intake, supplements, alcohol food and so on. Just like what we put in our bodies, what we put ON our bodies can still make it’s way into our pores, into our blood stream and again can get to the baby if you’re pregnant or get to our milk supply which then goes to the baby.
This is why I really try to help my clients see that it’s also important to make good choices about the things you are putting on your skin as well. I’m kind of a basic Mom, in a non Mom jean kinda way. I like to look fit and stylish but in a very minimalistic way. I am all about yoga pants, light makeup, and sneaks. So these suggestions are going to be like me – basic. The essentials, if you will. Here are a few must haves that I use in my routine during pregnancy and beyond:
1. Organic Coconut Oil: Yup, straight from Amazon or Costco. This is my ‘body lotion’. I buy a huge tub of this and plop it right in my shower. After I am done my shower, I shut the water off and put coconut oil all over my body just like lotion. Here is why I love it: Coconut oil has a texture similar to plain petroleum jelly, but it does not feel sticky or greasy on your skin like other lotions or ‘jellies’. It easily socks into my pores (especially after a fresh shave) and moisturizes deep within my skin. Plus it goes on smooth and smells delish!
Tip: On the 3 times a year I actually put eye makeup on (the few and far between date nights!) coconut oil also works as an AWESOME makeup remover. I just take a 1/3 tablespoon or so and wipe it on my eye lid, even lashes (keep your eyes shut) and on my face or eyebrows (where ever there is makeup) and then grab a towel and BAM all the makeup wipes right off. So easy! For those wondering if it could make you break out- the verdict says no: See coconut oil has antibacterial properties that protect the skin from potential pathogens. More importantly to most of you, it can reduce the risk of bacterial infections worsening acne – nice!
2. Juice Beauty: Stem Cellular Anti-Wrinkle Overnight Cream: Let’s be honest, I’m not 25 anymore and my forehead has been feeling the wrath of that for quite a few years now. It was time for me to invest a little in preventing all these ever worsening wrinkles on my face. I have been using this product before bed and have to say I do notice a difference. I still have wrinkles but they aren’t as aggressive and my skin is smoother and brighter. My clients have noticed – so I’m not confident it’s not just the placebo effect.
Here is why I love it: There isn’t any junk and it actually works. So many times there will be brands that claim to be natural and well they just are not. This is a product that I can use on my skin and feel good about the ingredients potentially going into my blood stream while being pregnant on breastfeeding. While also getting some real results from using it.
3. Juice Beauty: Organic Facial Wash: I knew it was time to stop washing my face with my organic body wash when I hit 30, ha. “Ok”, I thought, “I need to take my skin care more seriously without falling into the trap of putting a bunch of chemicals on my skin.” I started using this Juice Beauty face wash a while back and it’s been my go-to ever since. My skin is naturally very dry so I needed a wash that didn’t dry out my skin. JB seems to have done the trick.
Here is why I love it: I have found that fatty acids in skin care products really are a natural ingredient that can do big things for your skin. This face wash nourishes with linseed, borage & primrose essential fatty acids. Best of all it’s ‘formulated without parabens, petroleum, propylene or butylene glycol, sodium lauryl sulfates, pesticides, phthalates, artificial dyes or synthetic fragrances.’ A win for Mama!

We have heard from countless mamas how babywearing makes their life so much easier; having two hands free means you can do (almost) everything you need to do, and keep your little one close enough to kiss at all times. 1. Be confident – know that you are giving your child the greatest gifts: love, nourishment, and the best start to a healthy life.
2. Be patient – give yourself room and time to learn, and if you get frustrated, take a break, reconnect with your baby, and do something else that makes you happy.
3. Dress accordingly – wearing a nursing top can really help with easy access for you and baby.
4. Loosen up – slightly loosen your arm straps and slightly slide your waistband down for more comfortable feeding.
5. Use your hands – oftentimes breastfeeding in a baby carrier is not truly hands free, as your hands may be needed to support your baby, breast, or a bottle, but just helps to make it a bit easier and mobile.
6. Use a blanket if you prefer extra privacy – but make sure you maintain visibility of baby to ensure their airway is open.
7. Reposition after feeding – whether they fall asleep or not, always reposition your baby to a snug, ergonomic position if you have lowered or reclined them to feed.
8. Check baby’s chin – as you latch your little one, make sure that he or she is keeping his or her chin off of her chest (you should be able to fit between 1-2 adult fingers underneath his or her chin) and that baby’s nose is free to ensure a clear airway.
9. Ensure baby has proper support – if you are breastfeeding in a Baby Tula Ring Sling, we recommend gently lifting and supporting your baby’s weight with one arm while lifting the top ring to loosen slightly with the other hand.
10. Maintain proper positioning – it is important to maintain the tummy-to-tummy position and keep knees higher than bottom in a deep M-position throughout the time that you are nursing.
11. Listen to your baby – listen to your child while he or she is nursing: snoring, grunting, or other noises can be an indicator of distressed breathing, and you should unlatch and reposition if these things occur, or if you visually notice an obstructed airway for any reason, or that baby’s chin has fallen to his or her chest.

In honor of Mother’s Day, we wanted to share the story of Sammy + Nat, as the founder, Samantha, lost her mother to breast cancer at a very young age; when she heard about Mary’s Mom’s story, she knew she had to find a way to help, and we are sharing her story today. It’s the first week of Spring and we will be honest: we thought it would never come. Though the “spring forward” time change can be challenging for parents, the sunny longer days to spend outside with your babe are welcome. Spring is also the season for cleaning, of course. I first learned about Re-Play Recycled during “Moldy Sippy Cup Valve Gate.” My daughter was only a few months old at the time and had no need for a sippy cup, but being the Type A mom that I am, I wanted to be prepared for when the time came, so I made a mental note of the brand. I happened up Re-Play Recycled with their wonderfully colorful line of crafted in the USA feeding sets made from FDA-approved, food safe recycled plastic – specifically, milk jugs! They’re free of the things that make you go “ew,” like BPA, phthalates and PVC, and their sippy cups feature a single-piece silicone valve that is easy to clean and spill proof.
I was recently able to try out Re-Play Recycled and much to my delight, my daughter loves her new dishes and I love the bright color palette and durability. (I may or may not sometimes coordinate the plate color with her food.) The sippy cups are truly no-spill and can withstand being pounded repeatedly on the floor (don’t ask me how I know this). The plates survive the inevitable tumbles from high chair to floor and the utensils are the perfect size for little hands, with room to grow.
