What’s New on Gugu: June 5, 2019

by Abby Ludwig Leave a Comment

This week I ended up with a number of products that will be great for summer travel! A new portable crib has just hit the market as well as some maternity friendly swimwear. We also love some new strollers from our friends at gb Pockit. Rounding out my selections this week are a work to play diaper bag backpack and some pre/postnatal friendly nursing gear that is sure to make you feel good!

For a number of our other favorites, please check out our Explore page!

Halo DreamNest Portable Crib: For parents looking for multi-functional products, I’ve found you another one! This portable crib by Halo starts as a rocking bassinet, converts into a portable crib and eventually turns into a cot. Utilizing a mesh mattress and coming with a travel bag, the DreamNest is perfect for on the go.

Summersalt Maternity Swimwear: The Summersalt swim line continues to impress us with their new maternity suits! Summersalt truly knows how to add a sense of style to their suits and this sophisticated line is no exception. Plus, many of these suits will fit whether you are pregnant or not! We will always support brands that are helping our moms and moms-to-be feel good about the ‘skin they’re in!’

New gb Pockit Strollers: There are three new strollers to the gb Pockit family! Pockit+ All-City, Pockit+ All-Terrain, and Pockit Air All-Terrain will fully cover any and all of your strolling needs. The All-City is a great compact stroller perfect for any urban environment. The All-Terrain has built in suspension and double wheels, which will help tackle any bumps as you push to the park. The Air All-Terrain is the ultimate travel accessory! Check out these new strollers today!

Work + Play Backpack in Grey Neoprene (by Petunia Pickle Bottom): We love Petunia Pickle Bottom diaper bags and their new Work + Play bag is no different. It is gender neutral, water-resistant, and has a laptop sleeve. Perfect for work and play, this bag will help tackle each and every day! Plus it makes a great father’s day gift!

Hotmilk Nursing Collection: We love the Hotmilk Nursing collection! Not only are they incredibly supportive, but they give moms of all stages a chance to feel beautiful! Plus these items will fit you during pregnancy, 4th trimester, and beyond. They are so elegant and comfy that you won’t want to stop wearing them!

Please note that these opinions are 100% my own and I have not received any products in exchange for placement in What’s New on Gugu!

This week I am introducing two brand new companies to WNOG and highlighting three other products that are from companies we already love. Many of these products are great for travel and are easy to take on the go with your little ones. Plus, this week they are all absolutely brand new to the baby and toddler world. They also make great baby shower or birthday gifts. I am very excited to share these new items with you!

For a number of our other favorites, please check out our Explore page!

CoralUV: We first fell in love with the CoralUV Sanitizer when we saw them at the Chicago Baby Show last summer. Now they are nearing their full launch with a brand new UV Sanitizer. Cleaning bottles, pacifiers, teethers, and more, we love how easy the CoralUV is to use. We also love that this can be used well beyond the bottle stage to keep household items clean too! A perfect time saving gift for any new parent!

Wayb Pico: We have been (not so) patiently waiting the arrival of this new travel seat. You may have heard us talk about it before, but we think the Pico will change the travel game with little ones. Suitable for kids 2-5 years, this forward facing seat’s frame is made from aerospace-grade aluminum, making it super lightweight (8 lbs!). They also use a mesh fabric to avoid using foam, which can be filled with toxins. Shipping in 1-2 weeks, check out the Wayb Pico for all your summer travel!

Humble-Bee Nurse-Sling: Another JPMA find from this past Spring, Humble-Bee’s Nurse-Sling may be the answer to all postpartum and nursing back pain. The Nurse-sling takes the stress off of your back and holds your little one up to feed. Plus, you can easily adjust the size and it is machine washable. A perfect unique, baby shower gift!

Bumbleride Era: Just announced by our friends at Bumbleride, the Era is their first ever reversible seat stroller. We love Bumbleride’s commitment to creating eco-friendly products that will hold up for active families. Era is an all-terrain stroller that will also be perfect for daily use. Pair it with a compatible car seat to create your own travel system too!

Skip Hop New Zoo Characters: We love Skip Hop’s fun line of Zoo Characters, which give a little extra pizzazz to both home and school activities. Introducing two new friends to the lineup; Nova Narwhal and Dillon Dragon. Their new backpacks are perfect for summer camp, especially with a matching lunchbox. We love their snack containers and straw bottles for on the go and they make a perfect toddler gift!

Please note that these opinions are 100% my own and I have not received any products in exchange for placement in What’s New on Gugu!

The Village Reviews: Evenflo Balance Glass Bottles

by Gugu Guru Leave a Comment

When it comes to choosing a bottle for your baby, there are so many options it can get overwhelming, but one of the big questions parents are faced with is whether to pick glass or plastic bottles. A lot of parents are leaning towards glass bottles now, as they are eco-friendly, easy to clean, and recyclable – among many other features. The Evenflo Balance + Wide Glass bottles were developed with Pediatric Feeding Specialists and are Evenflo’s strongest glass bottles yet; they are thermal shock resistant, which means they are safe for baby to learn to hold.

The unique, naturally-sloped nipple promotes a healthy wide latch, as it mimics a breast and it easier for baby to get their little mouth on to eat. The slow flow rate prevents chugging and the built-in venting technology reduces the potential for colic, reflux, gas and fussiness. They are designed for calm, gulp-free eating and feature a 1 piece integrated venting technology that helps prevent gas, reflux, and fussiness. They are easy to clean, dishwasher safe, and can grow with baby as well. They’re comfortable for parents to hold, too! Here’s what two of our Villagers had to say about the Evenflo Balance + Wide Glass Bottles:

  • The EvenFlo Balance+Safeglass bottles have quickly become my go-to bottle. The bottle is easy to hold, features a vent reduce gulping and air intake and I like knowing the bottles are eco-friendly and recyclable. My little one has rejected many bottles in the past but took to this one right away. – Lauren, mom to a 12-month-old
  • Since I’ve had my baby 6 weeks ago, I have tried many different bottles. These are by far my favorite. I love that you can see the written measurements easily and it’s not the same color as the glass. Its comfortable to hold. The nipple is my favorite part because the way my baby sucks there is no dripping out of her mouth or down the nipple. I don’t even have to use a bib. We are only using these bottles now and I will be purchasing more. – Elena, mom to a 6 week old

This week I have found some products that have excellent longevity. They will survive through your first, second, third, and beyond. They are even great options for life with multiples (I can speak from first-hand experience!). I also love the way these brands are dedicated to creating high quality products. From a mom of twin toddlers, THANK YOU!

For loads of our other favorites, please check out our Explore page!

Maxi Cosi Magellan Max: This convertible car seat could truly be the only car seat you ever own! While I love the Magellan, the Max has some added features that will make your life significantly easier. They have added their “EZ In/Out harness system” which is revolutionary when trying to buckle in a moving toddler. The seat also has a variety of recline positions and a no-rethread harness. Safe for babies 5-120 lbs, this seat will go from rear-facing infant seat to forward high back booster.

Göbe Kids Snack Spinner: Although not available until July, this new snack spinner will help ensure that your toddlers are eating from all the food groups! Simply fill each of the sections with snacks and watch your little one’s independence grow. Great for picky eaters too! They are BPA and PVC free and dishwasher safe.

Mochi Toys: Although not new to Gugu Guru, People Toy Co.’s Mochi line is perfect for any growing baby. Their teethers are non-toxic, made from rice, and easy to clean! We love how these hold up to months and months of constant use by babies and toddlers of all ages! Complete with instruments, wearable teethers, blocks and more these are the perfect unique gift for any family!

Plae Shoes: Plae has taken the importance of ‘Play’ and turned it into an amazing shoe line for kids (and adults!). Plae shoes are extremely high-quality and hold up to days at the beach, park, and pool! They are great for teaching independence to toddlers who want to put on/take off their own shoes too. We love their unique colors, encouraging all family members to get out there and ‘Plae!’

Toki Mats: Toki Mats is a mom-founded brand (see others featured on the blog this week!) made of high quality foam and a washable cover. The mat will fold when not in use and the covers are washable and interchangeable. It is also a great size, even for multiples. Plus the prints are fun and trendy enough to keep out in your living room!

I hope that everyone had a nice Mother’s Day! I have been busy this past week rounding up some excellent new baby and toddler items to help make your lives easier! Any product that will help save a few minutes each day is worth it in my book. There are also loads of great products in our Baby Shower Gift Guide.

For loads of our other favorites, please check out our Explore page!

Nurture by Imalac: Another JPMA find, Nurture by Imalac is meant to mimic hand expression either alone or while you are pumping. This helps new moms express more milk, express higher calorie ‘hindmilk’ and overall make the whole process more efficient. Not quite available yet, but keep watching their website for upcoming announcements!

Clek Liing: A new infant car seat from our friends at Clek! We love their modern style, high quality fabrics and added safety features, and you can easily spot all of these on the Liing. It does have a hefty price tag, but we love how easy it is to use! Install is a breeze (necessary for proper use) and the base has multiple recline options, which is pretty revolutionary for infant car seats!

Kaavi James Collection by Gabrielle Union: Inspired by her adorable daughter, Gabrielle Union has created a new kids line called the Kaavi James Collection. Available exclusively at select New York & Company stores, the line features adorable (and affordable!) pieces. There are even some ‘Mommy and Me’ styles, which are perfect for Spring and Summer BBQs!

Bibs Pacifiers: Relatively new to the American market, the Danish Bib Pacifiers are completely BPA, PVC, and Phthalate free. Available in 60 color combinations, and in a variety of size, these are a minimalist parents’ dream!

JJ Cole Outdoor Blanket: As the weather continues to get warmer, picnic season is upon us! Perfect for a day at the park or a backyard picnic, this water resistant blanket will hold up to its toughest users – babies and toddlers! Plus it folds into itself for easy transport and storage.

This week’s new finds highlight some great Earth Day friendly selections. Reusable food pouches, baby food makers, and food grade silicone bottles are all great new items for the eco-friendly family. You will also notice some pop culture trends popping up this week. Baby Shark anyone? For loads of our other favorites, please check out our Explore page!

Baby Brezza Food Makers and Reusable Pouches: Earth Day celebrations always remind me to make smart choices regarding the products we use in everyday life. Baby Brezza has continued to make the ‘homemade baby food game’ a reality with easy to use machines and reusable pouches! Simply pop your favorite fruit and/or veggies in the container (love the Glass for eco-friendly or the new Deluxe) and watch them cook and blend with ease. Pour any delicious mixture into the reusable pouch and you’re good to go! Added bonus – the pouches are top-rack dishwasher safe!

Hatch Maternity x Nordstrom: As we (not so) patiently await the arrival of Baby Sussex, it has become much easier to attain our own ‘Markle Sparkle!’ The new collaboration between Hatch Maternity and Nordstrom highlights items from a brand we love so much. Pair together classic tops, pants, and dresses to keep things comfy and chic!

Baby Shark Toys and Walker: The ‘Baby Shark’ craze doesn’t seem to be leaving us anytime soon. Wowwee, the brains behind ‘Fingerlings’ continue to create engaging toys for our little ones. We have a love/hate relationship with their line of singing shark characters, which will instantly burn that catchy tune into your brain! Plus, coming in October is their newest toy, a brand new Baby Shark inspired walker for baby.

Boon NURSH Silicone Bottles: Another Earth Day find, the Boon NURSH bottle system utilizes a special bagged venting system that is reusable. Ideal for preventing gas, easily squeeze the silicone pouch to remove any excess air before feeding your babe. Plus, all parts are dishwasher safe!

Skip Hop Greenwich Convertible Hip Pack: With Mother’s Day around the corner, we love this sleek take on the fanny pack. Great for travel, we love this new hands-free accessory to hold the essentials. Pair with a diaper bag for an excellent gift for any mama-to-be!

I have some great new products to share this week! At Gugu Guru, we are always looking for the latest new baby/parent items to help make your lives easier. This week I am focusing on some new items that will be highlighted at the upcoming JPMA show. JPMA, or Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association, is the industry’s authority on baby product quality and safety. Plus, our very own Monica Banks, Gugu Guru’s Founder/CEO will be presenting at this year’s JPMA Trade Show!

For loads of our other favorites, please check out our Explore page! (Also, these opinions are 100% my own and I have not received any products in exchange for placement in What’s New on Gugu!)

Slumberpod: Imagine this – you are traveling with your infant or toddler and sharing a room for sleep (i.e. hotel room, grandparent’s house, etc.). When your baby first wakes up, they look across the room and can see you instantly. Instead of the full night of sleep you are all used to, your little one is up and ready to start the day. Slumberpod was created for this exact situation. A perfect solution to create a privacy pod over travel cribs or playards. This is a must-have for traveling families!

Dr. Brown’s Options+ Anti-Colic Bottle: One of our favorite bottle brands has done it again! The new Options+ Bottle utilizes a special venting system that you can use to help with symptoms of Colic and Reflux. As your baby grows, and no longer needs the extra vent, you have the ‘option’ to remove it. They have made a few other great upgrades to the new bottles, too! We love the one-handed cap removal and new nipple design. These are truly a go-to bottle for any babies with tummy issues!

NOONI’s: NOONI’s is the first all-in-one leak resistant nursing sleep bra. With a patent-pending 4 layer solution, you will no longer wake up to find yourself in a cold and damp top (or worse, bedsheet). Plus, their inside layer is made of a thin fleece material, staying warm and soft on the skin. An extremely comfortable solution to such a frustrating problem!

Cybex Stroller Upgrades: We love Cybex strollers at Gugu Guru! The Priam (class all-terrain) and Mios (travel), have recently received excellent upgrades. They have upgraded colors, stroller suspension, and the Lux Carrycot. These strollers are excellent options for moms looking for a sleek, modern stroller that functions well for everyday use.

Chicco Nextfit Zip Max Air: Chicco’s Nextfit convertible car seat has received quite the upgrade. Now with multiple recline positions, this seat fits infants starting at 4 pounds (rear facing) and converts to a forward facing seat for children up to 65 lbs. It is easy to install and has added safety features. We also love the ability to unzip the fabric, making cleaning a breeze!

This week I’m focusing on brands that I adore. Some of these products are new to market while others are new for the season. For loads of our other favorites, please check out our Explore page! (Also, these opinions are 100% my own and I have not received any products in exchange for placement in What’s New on Gugu!)

Joeyband: Immediately after giving birth, you will be encouraged to have skin-to-skin time as much as possible. While this is so beneficial to both parents and baby, the Joeyband makes it even more convenient! Perfect for in-hospital use, the Joeyband will help parents manage this bonding period while preventing infant falls. Also exceptional for use after a C-Section to allow healing mothers to easily keep baby close during recovery.

Babo Botanicals: Having two boys with severe eczema, I have tried pretty much every fragrance-free product on the market. Babo Botanicals offers an extremely wide range of skin care options for my kids. From sunscreen to diaper cream, cleansing wipes to shampoo, they have a natural product for every member of your family!

Copper Pearl Spring Patterns: Copper Pearl does it again with yet another round of adorable burp cloths and bibdanas. Giving us adorable Spring vibes, new patterns – Sassy, Holly, Morgan, Alta (and others!) are a perfect warm weather addition to any family’s garden. Plus they hold up well after multiple washes and act as the perfect accessory to any outfit!

Kindred Bravely Louisa Leggings: While most of Kindred Bravely’s product line is at the top of our favorites, we hadn’t seen their leggings in person until a few weeks ago. We were blown away! They are stretchy, comfortable, and extremely high-quality. Plus, they are a thick enough material and won’t thin out like so many other maternity/postpartum leggings. A true must have for your maternity wardrobe!

Skip Hop Play to Night Expanding Travel Crib: An excellent solution to traveling with your little one! We love this new travel crib from Skip Hop, which starts as a cozy sleep environment and expands to a much larger play space for baby or toddler. Equipped with a travel bag, this is the perfect item to take with while visiting family or friends!

Our parents are always looking out for the latest and greatest products. However, it can be hard to sift through all the “noise.” This week, we have focused on 5 new products for you to check out. These are great to add to a registry, or to purchase for a growing toddler! For loads of our other favorites, please check out our Explore page! (Also, these opinions are 100% my own and I have not received any products in exchange for placement in What’s New on Gugu!)

GoSili Oh Cup: We love this new cup from our friends at goSili! This spill-proof cup can be sterilized in the dishwasher or microwave (major convenience points!). It will not collapse on the go and it’s made from a food-grade European silicone. This cup is great for babies and toddlers on the go.

Go Happy Memories and Art Set: A great gift for kids who are slightly older (think 3 and up), this set includes a travel journal, a postcard set, and a sketch book. With the option to purchase separately or as a set, we think this is a perfect gift for that family who is about to jet off for Spring break!

Chew Cube: Another Mommycon find, we loved learning about Malarkey Kids (creator of the Munch Mitt) newest toy, the Chew Cube. Using food grade silicone and a developmentally appropriate rattle cube, your little one will play (and teethe) with this toy all day long. Plus it is super easy to take on the go!

June & January for Mama: One of our favorite baby/kid lines has now introduced comfy wear for Mom! Made from a buttery soft stretchy cotton blend, these pieces are truly for moms in any stage. Pregnant, nursing, postpartum, they will fit your changing body through it all!

Mockingbird Stroller: One of our favorite new finds, we love this new direct-to-consumer stroller! It easily competes with high end strollers with great suspension, a huge storage basket, and comfortable stylish fabrics. This stroller is customizable and functions well for everyday use. We can’t wait to see this stroller truly revolutionize the game!

Gugu Gift Guide: Feeding Time

by Gugu Guru Leave a Comment

When it comes to gifts pertaining to feeding time, there are so many options to choose from; we’ve rounded up some of our favorite feeding time gift items, we thought of everything, from high chairs to healthy snacks, to feeding sets and even a way to make feeding time a little easier for new moms. Read on to see our feeding time gift guide picks and don’t forget to check out our Instagram for our editor’s Instagram stories about each product.

4moms High Chair: Your little one is going to spend some special times in their high chair, so when it comes to picking out a high chair for your little one, we always recommend the 4moms high chair for so many reasons. The 4moms high chair has taken high chairs to the next level, as 4moms considers not only what baby needs out of a high chair for feeding time, but what parents may need too! 4moms understand that high chair trays can be tricky at feeding time, and have magnificently solved the problem for all parents. The 4moms high chair uses magnets to magically put the high chair tray on and off with one hand – no more fussing about a messy baby, it’s as simple as on and off with magnet technology. Speaking of magnets, minimize the mess at feeding time, because the tray is magnetic, which pairs perfectly with the 4moms magnetic bowls and plates which will stay in place as baby learns to eat themselves. When baby is done eating, clean up is a cinch; the tray liner is removable and dishwasher safe, and the removable foam insert is easy to clean. And, with 3 height positions and 2 tray positions, you can use the 4moms high chair for feeding time for baby and beyond.

Bakeology Cookies: When it comes to feeding time, there is nothing better than snacks you and your little one can share. We’re so excited about Bakeology cookies – our editor received some to try and promptly ate the entire bag on her own (sorry kids) – they’re just that good. What makes Bakeology cookies so special? A few major reasons – Bakeology Chocolate Chip Cookies are gluten free, vegan, kosher, and non-GMO verified. They’re ideal for breastfeeding moms whom are trying to avoid dairy or gluten, and they taste amazing – you’re not sacrificing flavor for gluten when it comes to Bakeology cookies. They are a perfect addition to kid’s snacks and lunches, and we love them on top of ice cream, too – plus, they’re lower in sugar than most cookie snacks, so you can indulge guilt free. Their bite size packs are a perfect addition to any diaper bag or purse, ideal for an after school or work snack, and fit perfectly in your back pocket…not that we know or anything…Use code COOKIES25 for 25% off at checkout. We know you’ll love them!

Bella Tunno: If you’re looking for a feeding time gift for someone in your life, we always turn to Bella Tunno for fun feeding time gifts for baby showers and first birthday gifts. Bella Tunno gift sets are made from food-grade, 100% FDA-approved (BPA, PVC, Phthalate Free) silicone, so you can feel good about giving a Bella Tunno set as a gift. This Hungry Hungry Hippo bib and feeding time set features a bib, 2 spoons and a bowl – everything you need for feeding time for babies and toddlers. Their cheeky designs paired with traditional products make for a fun feeding time with lots of smiles. But, we love Bella Tunno most of all because for every product sold, Bella Tunno donates 1 meal to 1 child in America, and each bundle gives 3 meals. Give back and do good with Bella Tunno; if you’re going to give a gift, choose a fun and functional  gift which gives back – Bella Tunno does it all! Check out all of their super fun designs (Brunch Babe, anyone?), because we know you’ll find the perfect feeding gift set for all of the babies in your life. Use code GUGU20 for20% off your order through 3/15.

nanobébé Bottles: When it comes to feeding babies, you have to check out nanobébé bottles; Nanobebe has re-invented the baby bottle in such a revolutionary way, as nanobébé is the first and only bottle designed to preserve breastmilk nutrients, without compromising on mom’s convenience and style! nanobébé’s unique surface area is geometrically designed to spread milk into a thin layer allowing it to cool twice as fast as standard bottles on the market which prevents bacterial growth. Often parents are in such a rush to warm breastmilk for the baby that they use boiling water and in doing so, are damaging the nutrients, enzymes, and proteins in the breastmilk. However, nanobébé has a geometric design to spread milk into a thin layer, and therefore it warms quicker that all standard bottles and at safe temperatures; overheating is prevented and those precious nutrients moms work so hard to provide are protected. nanobébé is changing the way you feed baby, and if you’re creating your registry or giving a baby shower gift, we highly recommend adding the amazing nanobébé bottles.

Crane USA Humidifier: Did you know that a humidifier running in your baby’s sleep quarters will help your baby breathe, sleep and FEED more easily? Yep, it’s true. That’s why at Gugu Guru we consider the Crane Cool Mist Humidifier a must-have for all baby registries. Moist air is easier to breathe. Humidity also makes it easier to get the mucus out of your baby’s nose and a clear nose can help a congested baby nurse or bottle-feed more easily. The Crane Cool Mist Humidifier is both quiet and effective. The extra humidity helps babies to breathe easier, meaning they can sleep better and eat with less frustration helping them to be better equipped to fight off a cold.  Coming in a wide variety of designs, colors and styles to complement any room, the Crane Cool Mist Humidifier makes an awesome baby shower gift.

Joeyband: This hands-free ergonomic breastfeeding support system is the exclusive skin-to-skin product of La Leche League International, and recommended in the organization’s book “Sweet Sleep: Nighttime and Nap Time Strategies for the Breastfeeding Family”.
