Drool Bibs For Babies – Stylish Picks

by Gugu Guru 1 Comment

When it comes to baby style, parents love to dress their little ones up in so many cute ways…but, when the baby is drooling all over themselves, and covers their cute clothes in said drool, it’s not so cute any longer! This is why the Gugu Guru team is such fans of stylish drool bibs for babies, and when it comes to drool bibs for babies, Copper Pearl is the place to go. Copper Pearl is a one-stop-shop for baby essentials chock full of gorgeous patterns and designs. See, drool bibs for babies don’t function purely for style, it’s also a skin-issue; when a baby drools all over themselves and soaks their clothes, their sensitive skin can become irritated by the drool. But, drool bibs for babies prevent your baby’s skin from getting wet and irritated, and all the while, protecting baby in style.

drool bibs for babies

Copper Pearl drool bibs for babies are made from 100% absorbent cotton on the front and 100% polyester fleece on the back. The front of the baby bib is a stylish knit fabric and the back is a super soft fleece that keeps your baby completely dry even with the drooliest of babies. Copper Pearl drool bibs for babies are ideal for any age baby, as they also work great for spit-up, and parents especially love these drool bibs for teething babies!

Each baby bandana bib comes with 2 nickel-free snaps that allow each bib to be adjustable in size to fit newborns and toddlers, with ages ranging from 3-36 months. The snaps are secure on the drool bibs for babies, making it difficult for infants and toddlers to unfasten but are easy for parents to snap on and off.

Gugu Guru is obsessed with the gorgeous prints on all of the Copper Pearl drool bibs for babies; they truly do become a trendy and stylish baby fashion accessory. Copper Pearl’s bandana bibs feature custom designs unique to Copper Pearl, they’re versatile and are the perfect finishing touch for any outfit. If you’re looking for a unique and fashion forward baby shower gift, Copper Pearl’s drool bibs for babies makes the best gift for new parents, new grandparents, baby showers, christmas present or for any excuse to make a baby look amazing.

Eco-Friendly Ways to Recycle Baby Clothing and More!

by Gugu Guru Leave a Comment

With April being the month to celebrate all things Earth-related, we wanted to share a few companies with you who are helping parents recycle old clothing and accessories by giving them a new home and purpose. Don’t forget to check out our affordable eco-friendly baby registry and post-consumer recycled baby registry!

Swoondle Society: It seems as though babies and kids run through clothes faster than we can buy them, so what’s a parent to do when they’re stuck with a ton of wrong-sized or outgrown baby clothes? Our editor got to try Swoondle Society, which is a trade-based second hand shopping experience. You sign up for a Swoondle Membership, receive a pre-paid large mailing-bag in the mail, and fill it with all of the clothes you can’t use anymore! Everything is valued in Levels 1-5 and are available for trade-only.  This makes it fair – you can only take out levels based on what levels you send. You receive the same level as your item will be listed in the shop.  Swoondle plays the judge to make trading easy and fair. Our editor says, “I sent in a bunch of Gap Kids and Old Navy boy’s clothing in great condition; I ended up picking 10 new items for my boys, including a gorgeous rain jacket, the navy blue Old Navy long sleeved shirt in great condition and an adorable ringer t-shirt for my younger son! It was easy to do, and if you’re someone who likes to shop online for your kid’s clothing, I highly recommend a membership.” You can request a kit to try it out for no fee (you get 5 free swaps before you have to chose a membership plan), and it’s a great way to recycle those old clothes and get brand new-to-you clothing!

Moon Canyon Kids: The Moon Canyon Kids subscription box is a monthly mix of vintage and modern items, styled for your child. In each box you’ll find three (or more) pieces, often including a new item from a cool Los Angeles brand. Plus a new accessory surprise! It’s an easy, affordable, eco-friendly way to outfit your kiddo. All you have to do is choose your child’s size, and if you want for a girl, boy, or unisex (love that they have this option!). And then, simply wait for your box full of clothing to arrive. We’re fans of both eco-friendly recycling of clothing and shopping small, so we’re over the moon (pun intended) that Moon Canyon Kids offers both in one box! It’s super fun to see what comes in the mail, as often times it’s not necessarily what you’d pick out for your kids, but incredibly adorable, nonetheless.

Stitches by Natalie: What do you do with all of those baby clothes and blankets you no longer use, but still want to save? Stitches by Natalie transforms all of your precious baby blankets and clothing into adorable stuffed animals! It’s super easy to send in your blanket, simply pick which animal you want to transform the blanket into, and Natalie hand creates the animal for you, as well as embroiders your child’s information on the animal. So, go look in the back of those drawers of yours and pull out those precious baby blankets to be made into a family heirloom which will last forever.  Check out some other items from Stitches by Natalie, too.

Belly Bandit Upcycle Program: Belly Bandit, a favorite of Sara Haley Fit, has an amazing upcycle program we’re excited to tell you about. Belly Bandit are firm believers in giving back and paying it forward.  It’s simple, just send Belly Bandit your used Belly Bandit Belly Wraps and in return you’ll receive a one-time coupon for use on any of their products! We’ll in turn take those used wraps and donate them to Trash 4 Teaching! T4T, a division of Two Bit Circus Foundation, rescues clean, safe, inspiring items that local businesses discard in abundance, and make them available to teachers, after school providers, non-profits and individuals. They support hands-on learning through STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) with professional development workshops, material resource carts and classroom collaborations. They offer a variety of hands-on creativity and collaboration experiences for all ages.

Spring Gift Guide

by Gugu Guru Leave a Comment

With Springtime just around the corner comes an influx of baby showers, first birthdays, and special events for babies and mamas – we rounded up some of our favorite gift items for Springtime celebrations – although, we admit, we would totally buy these for ourselves, too!

Tiny Tags: When it comes to gifts for moms, whether for Mother’s Day or for a baby shower, personalized is always the way to go! We are huge fans of Tiny Tags jewelry, as it is not only gorgeous, but totally customizable. Pick your style, gold or silver, and then figure out what names, dates, or meaningful sayings you want engraved on your piece. Whether it is the date you first laid eyes on your partner or child, or all of your children’s names, or the time your baby was born, Tiny Tags turns memories into heirloom jewelry pieces. Their bar necklace (which our editor in chief Olivia has and loves) is a classic piece and goes with your everyday mom-uniform and looks chic enough for date night. They’ve recently introduced a script necklace as well, which is gorgeous and makes the perfect gift for your best mom friend, babysitter, sister, or yourself! Read more about how much we love Tiny Tags here.

Baby Merlin’s Magic Sleepsuit: What’s the best gift you can think of giving a new parent? Sleep, of course! And, if you can’t give the gift of sleep, the next best gift is a Baby Merlin’s Magic Sleepsuit! Transitioning from being swaddled to not being swaddled can be difficult on some baby’s sleep; Baby Merlin’s Magic Sleepsuit gives baby a warm, cozy, and comforting feeling to help them fall asleep faster, and stay asleep, too! The Magic Sleepsuit is designed for babies who are ready to transition from the swaddle, yet still need that cozy and contained feeling to aid in their sleep. Made with soft, comforting materials, the Magic Sleepsuit will give your baby the sense of security and warmth they need to sleep well through the night. Plus, it’s ideal for any time of the year because baby won’t get overheated – even if you’re looking to transition baby from the swaddle in summertime, it still works, as it features open feet and hands to help keep baby at a comfortable temperature. Coming in three adorable colors, the Baby Merlin’s Magic Sleepsuit is our one must have item for any baby registry – you can learn more about it in this handy video, too!

Ubbi Bath Toys and Bath Toy Draining Bin: If you’re looking for a fun Springtime gift idea for a toddler or first birthday, we’re huge fans of Ubbi’s assortment of bath toys and toy draining bin. Ubbi has a variety of toys to choose from for bath-time play, and what we love about all of their toys is that they are PVC, BPA and Phthalate free, plus you can even wash them in your regular dishwasher! No need to be afraid of moldy toys any longer, as you can open these toys up and wash them in the dishwasher. With all of these wonderfully fun bath toys, you’re going to need a place to store them! The Bath Toy Draining Bin allows you to conveniently contain bath toy clutter. Simply scoop the toys out of the tub using the whimsical handles, and place the bin on its base. The large holes in the bin allow for fast drying, and the base collects excess water that can be poured out later. Easy to use and wash, this drying bin makes bath time clean up a breeze. You can read more about Ubbi’s bath toys here, too.

pediped: Springtime means new Spring Styles and shoes for your little one. When it comes to baby and toddler shoes, we always turn to pediped!  pediped footwear has been awarded the American Podiatric Medical Association Seal of Acceptance for the promotion of healthy foot development, and orthopedic medical professionals deem pediped shoes an excellent choice for parents who want their children’s feet to develop naturally and healthily. We’re excited to introduce you to the Norm Nautical Originals and Jake Pink Originals for Spring. The Norm Nautical Originals feature a microfiber leather upper, breathable leather lining, and all leather soft-sole with slip resistant diamond tread. These dressy shoes have a velcro closure and can be used for play, parties, or school. The Jake Pink Originals are bright colored for Springtime, and feature an all leather soft-sole with slip resistant diamond tread for running around or simply learning to toddle around. These casual style sneakers are ideal for summer adventures and backyard fun.

Purple Rose Bows: There’s simply nothing cuter than a baby girl or little girl with a bow in their hair, right? But, when a new season, such as Spring, rolls around, it’s high time for a new set of bows! We’re totally in love with Purple Rose Bows, which is a subscription of 3 handmade bows delivered to your door monthly. Isn’t that the best idea? No need to browse through tons of bows, or shlep the baby to a store; simply choose whether you want your bows on a nylon elastic headband or alligator clip, next Purple Rose Bows designs and hand makes 3 unique bows, and then just wait for your purple package to arrive right around the end of each month. We love that Purple Rose Bows was founded by two sisters, and as they say, “We think that every baby girl needs adorable bows, and we want to make it easier to keep them looking cute and charming all year long. We created Purple Rose Bows so your little rosebud is perfectly styled for every occasion!” You can subscribe to Purple Rose Bows here, and check them out on Facebook and Instagram. PS. Special deal for Gugu Guru followers, use code SPRING5 for $5 off your first month of bows!

ErgoPouch Layers Sleepwear: We love gifting soft pajamas for new moms or as a first birthday gift – and what better time of year than Springtime to change up your pajama game! We’re huge fans of ErgoPouch and the ErgoPouch Layers Sleepwear is not only adorable but will help your little one sleep comfortably. This luxurious sleepwear is made with organic cotton for breathability and are Tog rated for warmth.  They can be mixed and matched underneath the ergoPouch range of swaddles, sleep bags and sleepsuit bags for year round comfort. PS. use code guruguru for  20% off orders from www.ergopouch.com valid until May 2, 2018.

Lactation Link Complete Breastfeeding Online Video 3-Course Bundle: If you’re looking for an amazing gift for the minimalist mama, or a mom new to breastfeeding, we’re super excited to tell you about Lactation Link! Lactation Link offers online breastfeeding classes to moms; their complete 3-course bundle features videos on Breastfeeding Basics, Breastfeeding Hurdles and How-To’s, and Pumping and Storing Breastmilk. These courses will show you exactly what you need to get started breastfeeding and manage common problems, including learning how you can pump and store your breastmilk for planned or unplanned time away from baby. When you purchase the bundle, you get lifetime access to the videos as well as to a special Facebook group to chat about breastfeeding – this is such a great gift idea for a new mom – it may be hard to leave the house with a new baby while learning to breastfeed, and this bundle will help instill confidence all from the comfort of their own home! Check out this link to see everything covered in the bundle – it’s a ton of information!

Gugu Guru is so appreciative of our sponsors; thank you to Ubbi, PediPed, Purple Rose Bows, Lactation Link, Tiny Tags, ErgoPouch, and Baby Merlin’s Magic Sleepsuit for making this sponsored post possible.

DIY Valentine’s Day Onesie

by Gugu Guru Leave a Comment

See Kate Sew is back for another fun and easy tutorial, this time for a onesie just in time for Valentine’s Day. Read on for instructions on how to make this adorable onesie. Want to see more DIY posts from See Kate Sew? Check out some of our favorite tutorials.

Baby you’re breaking my heart! I’m excited to be back here at Gugu Guru this month sharing a project for my favorite holiday! Babies in pink things and hearts make Valentine’s Day so fun. But I also love that hearts and pink don’t have to be holiday specific, so this little ruffle onesie will work all year long!

I created this little download so you can decorate your own onesies! You can purchase a blank onesie (bonus points if it’s pink or red, but white works too!) or make your own. I used my ruffle onesie pattern with the large sleeve ruffle! Ruffles are also extra flirty for Valentines! And how cute is it with the DockATot Grand?! The new Fairytale collection has the prettiest prints, I fell in love with La Vie en Rose and think its a super pretty home accent piece that is also very functional! Read more about the DockATot over at my blog today! We’ll be using DockATot for the last year and a half and love the versatility of the Grand size! And enter to WIN your own on this post!

Back to the onesie! <3 <3 The decoration is made with iron-on vinyl that I cut with a Cricut machine and then pressed on with the Cricut EasyPress (but an iron works, too!). If you don’t have a cutting machine you can use the design as a template for fabric paint or an appliqué with fabric.

Valentine’s Day Heartbreaker Onesie

Materials//

-Ruffled Onesie, I love this lace ruffle onesie or make your own with this pattern

–Iron-on vinyl and cutting machine OR

–fabric paint OR

–fabric +heat n bond

Instructions//

Depending on how you are going to complete this project you’ll have different steps. But for the iron on, upload the attached svg file into your cutting machine interface and cut it with MIRROR ON with iron-on vinyl. I recommend bold black, or maybe glitter pink!

Peel the negative space from around the design and lay centered on the onesie, about 1.5 inches from the neckline.

Iron the design onto the onesie based on the instructions that came with the vinyl. Peel it off!

That’s it! Now try it on that cute lil’ baby.

The Village Reviews: Gunapod Bamboo Duvet Sack

by Gugu Guru Leave a Comment

Our Gugu Village reviews this new Gunapod Bamboo Duvet Sack from the Gunamuna company.

The Gunapod Bamboo Duvet Sack is constructed of super soft fabric made from eco-friendly hypoallergenic thermal regulating bamboo fibers, perfect for protecting sensitive skin. It is filled with premium fill to feel like a down comforter. The Gunapod mimics a caregiver’s hug with all over channel-stitched soft pressure points, so baby feels ultra comfortable + sleeps longer. All of that with the brand’s WONDERZiP® technology for the easiest diaper changes and a temperature control zip to further customize the cozy.

Here’s what our village had to say:

Gunapod Bamboo Duvet Sack

-Shelby S.-
I got the Gunapod Bamboo Duvet Sack before my infant was born because he is a winter baby and I wanted to try some different wearable blankets to keep him warm. I was nervous when it arrived because it was so large. I thought he wouldn’t be able to use it until he was much older but I was wrong! It fits just fine for my 9lb, 20in little guy and is the softest and warmest thing he owns!! As an infant I swaddle him at night and then put the gunapod over his swaddle. During the day I let his arms out when he is swinging or just lying around. When he gets older I’ll let his arms out the slots. I’m very pleased with this sleep sack and it is the only one I am currently using.

Gunapod Bamboo Duvet Sack-Emily F.-
My initial thoughts on the Gunapod Bamboo Duvet Sack are: I love the soft material, the adorable pattern and that the velcro is the non-sticky type, so hair and clothes don’t immediately stick to it. Little Mallary seems to love the comfort of the fabric and hold of the internal swaddle and sack too. We’re not sure if she sleeps longer in it, yet – but we’re hoping to test this more on our upcoming weekend trips.

I love the options to have one, two or no arms out. The baby prefers both arms out, so far! I like the idea that it’s easy to change the diaper but I’m also paranoid that it will get dirty unless I use a cloth diaper or burp cloth under her while changing her. I also like that the company is conscious of hip dysplasia prevention and that her legs are not restricted.

Overall, we love this Gunapod Bamboo Duvet Sack and it helps with naps in the Pack n Play! We are looking forward to using this swaddle sack more when we travel, especially when we go to Walla Walla next month as our first overnight away from home!

Must Have NYC Mom Essentials

by Gugu Guru Leave a Comment

One of the reasons mamas love Gugu Guru is that our style quizzes give personal recommendations based on where you live – because we understand that suburban mamas need different items than urban mamas! Today’s guest post is from a NYC mama who takes her two littles all over the five boroughs and back again, without even breaking a sweat. Megan is the mama to two kids under four years old, and has some great tips for surviving NYC life with little kids. You can find Megan on Instagram – and let us know in the comments what your favorite products for urban parenting are!

Adorable dinosaur clothing from Mitz Accessories

Being a new mom is hard. Being a new mom in NYC is borderline insane. As hard as navigating the trains with a stroller can be at rush hour, living in a space that is the size of most Americans living rooms, and paying what many people consider a mortgage on preschool but it has it’s perks too. Your kids can literally sleep through anything. After a few licks on the subway their immune systems are made of steel that no suburban kid could even dream of. Their palates have tasted the finer things of life since we have access to the best restaurants in the world and my three-year-old son might not know what a lawnmower is but can navigate the MTA without batting an eye.

I’m Megan @girlgonechildnyc, I’ve birthed two babies in this concrete jungle and I’m currently still keeping alive a 3 and 1-year-old here. So here are my top 10 registry items from a NYC Mom.

1. Original Ergo Carrier: I’ve tried a lot of different baby carries and I always go back to the original Ergo. It’s the one carrier I can wear seven hours straight and doesn’t hurt my back. I also can nurse discreetly on the train in this carrier with out a flashing my boob to the entire subway car.

2. phil&teds Lobster High Chair: You’re meeting friends in a tiny restaurant in the West Village and they don’t have high chairs? Boom! The Lobster has you covered.

3. A Noise Machine: While yes, most NYC babies can sleep through about anything, why risk it? You want your baby to still be asleep when that fire truck goes by at 4am.

4. The Pello: As my husband and I used to joke “Praise be to the Pello,” since our daughter had a pretty bad case of colic and this is the one place we could sit her as an infant and it was so ridiculously soft she wouldn’t cry. It acts similarly to a DockATot, and you can also set it up anywhere in the apartment.

5. NYC Décor: Almost every kids room in NYC I’ve been in has at least on piece that reminds you they’re a NYC baby. We’re proud of our New York Babies’, as it’s not easy raising kids here. It’s something they will be able to tell people the rest of their lives that they were born here. My favorite pieces are the interactive wall art by local NYC mom Kate Durkin.

6. Zoe Stroller: Strollers with infant seats are great, but they’re heavy and to be honest, I never used them because hauling a bulky stroller up two flights of subway stairs just wasn’t something I found fun just a few months shy of having a baby. You’re way more likely to wear your baby around NYC and get a decent umbrella stroller at 6 months. The Zoe stroller is perfect for commuting up and down subway stairs at just 10 lbs and still tons of storage.

7. Skip Hop Changing Pad: I’m not saying I’ve never had to change my kids diaper on a subway bench when poop literally hit the fan but I’m not saying I haven’t.

8. Stroller Bunting: Because as much as I wish I lived in 60 degree year round weather, I don’t, and if you think your sweet little 6-month-old baby will sit there with a blanket over him without throwing it on the street, he won’t.

9. Buggy Hooks: The one good thing about strolling around NYC with a stroller is you have a place to actually store all your bags. Think King Mighty Buggy Hook for Strollers lets you ad these on to your stroller and you can hang your stuff. Amazing.

10. Taga Bike 2.0: The best and safest family bike out there. It’s pretty cool looking too.  Perfect for neighborhood rides or commuting with the kids when the MTA poops the bucket.

Not a NYC mama? Don’t worry, we have you covered:

5 Must Have Essentials for a Baby Girl

by Gugu Guru Leave a Comment

-Sponsored-

When it comes to having a baby girl, new mamas often love to find their personal style with the pink clothes and accessories. There are so many gorgeous essentials for baby girls out there, but we rounded up our top 5 must have essentials for a baby girl, especially for those moms who love to get out of the house!

1. Tula Free-to-Grow Carrier: We’ve written about this particular Tula before, and our editor is a personal fan for her baby. Transition into parenting easily with the Baby Tula Free-to-Grow Carrier, the best, easy-to-use, stylish carrier that comfortably carries your baby from 7 to 45 lbs without an infant insert. Enjoy multiple ergonomic carry positions with an adaptable panel that adjusts in width and height to fit your baby at any stage, and fully adjustable shoulder straps and waistband for optimal comfort for you. Baby Tula has become extremely popular for offering the best baby carriers that are distinctly simple.

2. Laura Ashley baby clothing for a newborn: No one tells you how a) small newborns are and b) that they love to scratch themselves. Why not get lovely little scratch mittens with a gorgeous floral design from an old favorite, Laura Ashley? We are big fans of the Laura Ashley baby collection (they also make bottles and accessories), and think that their hats, mittens, and kimono top and pants are not only must-haves for the new baby, but must-haves to bring to the hospital with you! Both the hat and mitten set and the kimono tulle style top with pants are made from the softest pima cotton, sure to be super soft on even the most sensitive of new baby skin.

3. Laura Ashley baby accessories: You can’t be fully prepped for a baby without a bottle brush and pacifier – and we love the lovely designs from Laura Ashley. The delightful BPA free pacifier has a sweet butterfly on it, and the bottle brush is sure to perk up any kitchen sink. Laura Ashley also has a variety of baby bottles, featuring the floral designs Laura Ashley is known for.

4. Baby Headband: It has become so popular to put a headband on your baby girl right away! We are fans of Zelda Mathilda, who have a ton of different styles to choose from.

5. Vilah Bloom Diaper Bag: When it comes to diaper bags for baby girl’s, we’re fans of mixing pink with other colors, so you can use the bag for other babies, too! This Vilah Bloom Harbor Side Tote has a ton of room, pockets, and even a wipes holder on the outside, so you don’t have to search all over your bag for wipes!

Thank you to Laura Ashley for making this sponsored post possible.
